The naturally aspirated 3.5 V6 requires redline shifting to get anywhere. I’m glad Toyota went to a turbo 4.

I purchased a 2024 Blue Crush Metallic TRD Off Road, Premium Package on Oct 4 and I love it. It is faster, rides smoother, handles better, 360 degree camera, 14 inch infotainment screen with Bluetooth Apple Car Play and just a slew of other advantages over my 2021 Army Green TRD Sport Tacoma with the technology package. The seating position and stiff riding qualities of the 2021 made me buy the 2024 because it’s my daily driver. Also I can do oil changes without ramps or jack stands because of the higher clearance and the ‘24 has a spin on oil filter. I just made my first oil change last week at 561 miles and it was so much quicker and easier than my 3rd Gen. I’ve had numerous compliments on my Off Road design, ride height, wider and taller OEM AT tires and that Blue Crush color. Well worth the price at $3440 under MSRP. Thanks for your channel Rob! You do a heck of a good job of it!

Keeping my 3rd gen but if i were to be in the market for a midsize truck right now I'd probably get a Colorado. Not saying the new Tacoma is bad but Toyotas reputation is suffering right now.

24 TRD OFFROAD premium package and yes love the big screen. Never go back to small screen again. Love this thing. Had a 23 and this puts it to shame. A lot more power especially in sport mode on the highway. It has power. Don't miss my 23. I thought i would but not at all.

I finally test drove a Frontier. I have to say it was a big no for me. Ridgeline, can't lie, man, that's a smooth street ride. There is finally plenty of Tacoma's to choose from right now here in KC. Waiting to sieze the right opportunity!

@RobMotive I thought the motor ran rough, and I really didn't like how the steering felt, very heavy, truck felt heavy. I drove 2024, which also didn't have the telescopic adjustment. I know it's nit picking, but it's my money. It's just not a Toyota! Mrs LB20 said it was just okay.. she's Toyota fangirl!

Should add we bought the Toyota extended warranty, 7 years, 125,000 miles, so all the “sky is falling” hyperbole doesn’t phase me. Also have a 2001 4Runner we have had for 20 years, put in gas and drive.

Why did you waist money on an extended warranty? They are pure profit. The chance of something failing between the factory express warranty and the extended warranty are nill. In addition you are still covered by implied warranty, goodwill warranty, and recalls. They will weasel out of coverage in any way possible on extended warranties which really are extended service contracts.

Heck …why do we waste money on car insurance? What about life insurance? I’ve never had to use either! (Especially life insurance 😂)

@@RobMotive You are a lot more likely to need car insurance. In my state if you have no insurance your drivers license and tags get suspended. You will get hit with fines, jail time, and could lose life savings outside of retirement accounts. I drop comprehensive and collision on older cars. The chance of a modern truck having an issue during middle age is very low. Over 125k miles is a different story. They end at 125k for a reason. No reason to waist funds. Term and in some cases whole life insurance can make a big difference for your family.

@@user-tb7rn1il3q standard warranty is 3 years/36,000 so gaining 4 years and 89,000 miles for about $500 per year, ya, I am buying that insurance. All insurance is peace of mind, prepaying an expense over time. I plan on keeping this till the wheels fall off, many years from now.

Spot on the ZR2 lights flickered, screen as well. Nice looking truck but I'm passing on electrical issues. Furthermore, I had never seen that happen in any vehicle.

Nope. Been there and done that multiple times. Need more time, real-world miles, and data to gauge reliability concerns. Conclusion: unless you are a KZbinR, stay away from 'new' model years. Too many functions and mechanical systems need to be improved and/or optimized (see your channel). At these trim price points, the 2024 is a relative disappointment for Toyota. Love my Gen3. It's the best truck I've ever owned (n=3). Won't even consider one of these new Tacomas for few more years. Cheering for Toyota Engineering to get this truck right. Can't wait for the 2026 or 2027. More to come.

@@RobMotive Yep - there's always hope. Especially after Toyota a) re-evaluates their inflated pricing strategy, b) fixes their manufacturing, problems (defect types / levels), c) gets to the bottom of their transmission concerns, d) addresses their cheap interior materials / excessive use of plastics, e) resolves the powertrain problems / concerns with the 2.4L turbos (durability), and f) mitigates first-year production model risks resulting in accelerated depreciation for 2024 models. It's not a good buy / value anymore. They need to re-work and re-think what this truck should be. It's a disappointment, with sales down 25% YoY. A good first next step would be to move product back home from Mexico. More to come.

I leased a Ridgeline back in 19. I did love that truck on the road. I have since then refining what I wanted out of my truck. It was all wheel drive which was fantastic in the snow. Then I went camping in it. It had only 6" clearance under the truck when I drove it down on the beach I was losing the clip on plastic pieces skid plate and inside the wheel well. And the all wheel drive would bog down and get stuck, I couldn’t move. After that trip I had to learn the difference between all wheel drive and 4 wheel drive. So far my Tacoma has checked all my boxes.
