I like it. Would love to have a 10W of anything really. I'm disabled and currently unable to work, so I'm on a fixed income and am unable too afford an upgrade. I'll stay hopeful though and maybe I'll be able to buy just a laser head upgrade instead of the cost of a new setup.

еще ось зет удобна тем что на гравировку линией, лазер можно поднять во время работы, с расфокусом. еще можно фломастер или ручку приделать и использовать как рисующий чпу. The z-axis is also convenient in that for line engraving, the laser can be raised during operation, with out of focus. You can also attach a felt-tip pen or pen and use it as a drawing machine.

Please tell me if it is possible to connect a computer or laptop via wi-fi to this engraver, or only through a smartphone? I tried to connect using the IP address (through which I log in from the smartphone application) from the computer, but nothing happened (the computer is connected via a LAN cable to a Wi-Fi router) or does the computer only connect via usb?

Huh... what's the price point on the preorder? I try to load the page, and all I get are errors about secure connection failing. And it looks like it actually has a slightly smaller footprint than the D1... am I right?

Pre order price $699 ot $798 with air assist.
@jon1913
@jon1913 2 жыл бұрын
The price I'm seeing is $798 with air assist, $699 without. Right now you can get a Sculpfun S10 with air assist for $540 and those seem to cut thicker material more reliably.
@bhutch216
@bhutch216 2 жыл бұрын
The footprint is about the same. All the companies give you a work area but the laser doesn’t actual cover the entire space.

I'm liking the size of 450mm x 450mm or just over 17.5 inches and being able to slide things in from the side. Could put something on the end of a longer piece with that available. Wish it was available in 20w power though. Probably won't be long before they have it with the popularity of the D1.

Nick, if you were going to buy a 20w machine would you go with a X-tool or Atomstack? I am ready to spend the money, just can't make my mind up. It appears Atomstack is the better deal with air assist included. What are your thoughts? Thanks

Everytime I see a laser review, the reviewer always mentions that they wish it had this or that. Makes me glad to have Snapmakers because they have this and that already. Cost a little more at first but, as these other machines improve, the price goes up. Plus, the Snapmakers have CNC toolheads and 3D printer toolheads.

I don't understand these diode lasers at all. If you are going to use a laser I'd buy a co2 from the start.

@@ClintonCaraway-CNC I want to believe newbies like me are scared of how bulky CO2 lasers looks like... and the sort of complex installation... how fragile it is with its tube... On the other hand, i will choose xTool D1 Pro 20w over this... Still learning tho... Just been thinking it through... Going CO2 cos it costs less or going xTool cos of its versatility and less of a scary look... Maybe you can advice...

@@ClintonCaraway-CNC co2 lasers don't work on certain media so I'm told. I started with a gift and have been upgrading since. I use a 10w diode on a Snapmaker and it does what I need.

Are you using laser grade/high grade plywood for your tests? They have less patches, voids and glue, so cut cleaner with less flare up as a result. I've had a cheap piece of plywood where with my 40 watt CO2 it would just burn and char up. Cut it up and there was a thick area of glue holding a large void patch in place. They are probably claiming the cut thickness based on baltic birch B/BB or better.
@BuildDadBuild
@BuildDadBuild 2 жыл бұрын
Yup....just using plain ol' plywood.
@MrMadeinthe80s
@MrMadeinthe80s 2 жыл бұрын
99% of people are just buying stuff from the local hardware store so I doubt many people will be buying "laser grade" wood. If that's the case then they need to state that in the specs, but you know they won't. I never knew they had that, going to look that up now.
@chadvoller2031
@chadvoller2031 2 жыл бұрын
@@MrMadeinthe80s Laser grade plywood is well known by those in the hobby. Granted, the availability of cheaper diode lasers has brought many new hobbyists without any experience, without knowing what should or shouldn't be cut. I would want to make sure my exhaust is flawless if cutting big box store plywood, the glue more often than not contains formaldehyde. Laser grade is formaldehyde free. People cutting that in their garage or basement with poor or no ventilation is a huge no-no. The first thing people need to do before putting a laser to anything, is to verify that the fumes are not toxic when burnt. Just because a laser will cut it does not mean one should do it. You can buy laser grade at a lot of the places you get lasers, Amazon, Woodpeckers, etc. Unfortunately it is not cheap right now, being it is baltic birch from Russia. It's more than double the price I paid before the war. But hopefully alternatives made from eucalyptus and bamboo fill the gap. Those 3D puzzle kits you see at stores are made from laser grade baltic birch, they can't have any bad spots in them or the models won't fit together properly. Especially the moving ones like clocks.

I got it🎉🎉 me and my wife are so excited. I do have one concern that the support team was unable to help me resolve. In the bag that the air assist valve was, there also was a 2 prong cord that was about 3 inches long with a plastic plate on the opposite side and I cannot for the life of me figure out where it goes or what it’s used for. The white tag on it has a Z or an N depending on how you look at it and from what I can see all of my wiring on the machine is connected and complete. Any ideas on what I may be missing? Thank you for being so responsive

I had. I purchased this printer 08/28 and I contact Customer Service to get status of the order. Very vague responds, they are repeating that " awaiting fulfillment " but like I said, you can go and purchase one without any notification that it is sold out. The US and EU are the largest buying market in the world, and it is time that we ask these companies to stop doing commerce this way. If you want to do business here threat as with respect. What about if was the other way around and will be uncertainty on when our payments will to their account. Do you think that they will continue to do business. We are accepting their practices like normal. I'm not naive but we have to start somewhere. Their many companies to choose from and they have to earn our purchases. At the time of my purchase, I would it like to have known that was a delay on shipping to make an educated decision.
