just a tip, you can just use tumbler or anything you will try new that you have not experienced with and make a diagram with lots of squares each one with a different setting so that in one tumbler you have all the settings on it so which ever you like the best with the most detail on that setting you just use that setting for all the rest so you wont have to waste lots of tumblers for no reason....learned that from an actual laser engraver guy on his youtube page ;-)

Blue tape and low burn settings are your friend for prototyping.
@dreamkiss4u Жыл бұрын
@josephKEOarthur problem with blue tape is that you will never get a real sense of what it will really look like if you trying to burn something on a different material because other materials don't burn the same so it's best to do a sample of every power setting in the can't type of material your going to be doing it on.

A much easier method of alignment (assuming you move that laser from time to time) would be to measure distances from that convenient targeting dot on your stepper motor to the center of the rotary axis and end of the tumbler and either creating a fixture in your software (if software supports fixturing) or simply aligning the base of the rotary with a square to the laser frame and moving the known distance from the targeting dot to engraving zero. The machine is capable of both measuring and setting exact distances. There is no reason to eyeball it. My two cents. :)

But burning off spray paint is not the same as removing powder coat. What may look promising may not be. If these lasers are like the CO2 overshooting the power won't matter because it will not harm the metal on the cup. You would need a fiber laser for that
