We had an unknown dealer come from west coast with Action 1, Detective 27, and Superman 1 at the Comicon in 1964. They were in fine condition. Were to be sold for 300.00 unknown buyer..

I love anecdotes from the 1960s. As I mentioned in another video, the 1960s are such a blond spot for me so any stories from then are gems for me.

Very interesting stuff here. So many other comics get regraded without the previous entry being removed from the census... so why not with these multi-million dollar books.

It definitely happens! It can take detective work to figure it out, but it's possible to discover it with high profile books.

Do you know if Nicolas Cage’s copy of Detective Comics #27 ever surfaced after it was stolen from his home?

I don't know the answer off the top of my head, so I'll have to research what happened there. The lore on Cage's collection and that theft is fascinating stuff.

The Action 1 was found but not the Tec 27. The surfacing of the Action 1 was suspicious, but you can't really prove who took it or how it ended up in a storage locker. It was returned to the Insurance Co. and then purchased from the Cage, who auctioned it via ComicConnect. Given that no one but Nic can really make money off it, there is no incentive to bring it to light, even if it does still exist.
