I don't remember if he did a solar oven video or not but the fresnel lens are either straight lines or circles like this one. Straight lines don't produce as high a temperature as the circle's at a target point but while lower temp the straight lines are great for solar oven and other larger area heat🤓 keep the videos coming. Oh and if you're going to make one definitely build the stand😉 I used the one I used to have to make lead fishing weights myself 🤠

I want clear plexiglass made into a giant magnifying glass. It would take a vacuum table and convex or concave mold and heat. Form 2 4x4 sheets. Glue them together and fill them with water. A 4ft diameter magnifying glass would be awesome.

Heat water - turn to steam - turn generator make electricity. Had the idea back then, found and kept 2 lenses. Just never the time to try.

It’s a classic 😁 I might’ve seen all of those back then, not sure. Love seeing them again like this, though.

I'd love to see how much of that light you could send down a fiber optic cable, can you use it to burn something on the other end of the cable? Or light a small room by using one of those lenses to spread the light back out on the other end ... lots of possibilities.

Love the videos! Thanks. Liked and subbed. :) P.S. We were always taught not to take the older OLDER TVs apart because it could be dangerous.
@WoLpH5 ай бұрын
Those are the vacuum tube TVs. The reason that they are so dangerous is that they run at high voltages (25kV is not uncommon) and even after removing the power it will still take a long time for that to dissipate. It's fairly easy to discharge them by short-circuiting the tube to the ground without harming the TV though. Source: I used to repair electronics in a repairshop.

I have accumulated 6 Fresnel lenses (pretty sure the "s" is pronounced) , live in NYS (I assume the closer to the equater the higher the max temp), and hope to exceed 2400f , enabling me to melt vaseline glass so I can make some large, thick 14+oz tumblers. Among other things i plan on melting, I intend to use all 6 lenses on one point, utilizing the amazing mirrors that accompany each lens, to see how close I can get to the very maximum. The theoretical max = temp of surface of sun, approx 10K fahrenheit. I hope i can get exceed 3K, though living up in the cloudy north, probably not achievable. And while my production value will likely be extremely basic- kudos to content makers producing polished videos- i will be poating videos

Pretty sure Augustin Jean Fresnel would argue that his name did not pronounce the s... And it's named after him

Full circle, use a graphite crucible and cast aluminum.
@jaygeeantonio5 ай бұрын
Maybe weld some aluminum together a lil fuse weld with a conveyor or system to make consistent lines itd be cool to maybe make the point even smaller with twice the height and maybe even use another focus lense try and achieve infinite heat generation its not to far off from a lense for a chem laser
