i had this tank when it was a tier5 tech-tree ! it was insanely strong as the panther 2 turret could bounce any tier6 guns and the gun mantlet bounced IS3 shells :)

This was my favourite and best tank back when it was T5. I played it really well too, over 65% WR with thousands of battles played, and back then completely f2p without gold and premium consumables. I like to believe I was among the best with this tank.

In my experience the grousers do help on tanks that have issues with reaching their top speed like this one. In comparison to the turbo you loose a bit of top speed on hard terrain but get a bit faster on medium and soft terrain. But like Skill said the difference is so tiny that using something entirely different like vents is the way to go which is quite a shame because there's equipment in the game noone will ever use that could have a use case if it would be a bit better.

Best setup I've found for getting the most from it is Vents, Grousers and Optics. It's ROF is already decent so Rammer is optional but Vents and Grousers really helps with the sluggish ground resistances.

This tank is probably the first to show the infamous WG tactic of remove/change an op tank and after some years re-introduce it as 1 tier higher so it's garbage. Happens all the time with tanks that should be 0,5 tiers higher unless they're premiums or tier 10 tanks.

Well with premiums they tend to do the other way nowadays...Releasing the tier 8 premium just without it being tier 9 (or 9,5) tech-tree one before... :D :D :D

Ways of balancing are different and can be difficult. Some premiums have preferential matchmaking only seeing one tier higher as they would be lost against 2 tiers higher, mostly because of the gun stats = penetration value. Same time the techtree cousins have this problem (see Pz V/IV and Pz IV Hydro premiums with same gun as Pz IVH/Ankou and Pz III/IV). Other tanks have one of the 2 parameters set to abysmal: surviveability or agility. I see both as critical in todays battles. Low survivability gets you killed with ease by some/most opponents specially when you meet 2 tiers higher with the big alpha for the higher tier -> 2 shot kills. Low agility is a problem in today fast battles in two ways. First you miss the battle when going to the wrong place at start, second you can not react to faster opponents to survive in the battle. Bad thing when a tank like P IV S has weakness in agility and survivalbility. This might be not too bad if it would see preferential matchaking too - or if WG would skip the +2MM finally. But this an other topic. As the gun is in penetration on par with its tier and with gold very good you will have to suffer the +2MM

This would be one of the best tier 6s in the game if it's acceleration and module health weren't so poor. I've had the engine knocked out by splashes from arty and frontal hits from tier 4s on multiple occasions. You really can't afford to get shot by anything.

I have found recently if the turbo doesn't really make a difference try the grousers, it has transformed the 122TM into a decently mobile tank, I got the idea from clan wars when they use the mobility build on the IS7, that's crazy!

the key is in the soft stats: power/weight ratio and groundresistence. Bad pwr calls for turbo and bad groundresistence calls for grousers. For P IV S i see very low pwr for a medium and ok resistence on hard/medium ground. this would call for turbo. But the groundresistence on soft surface is really bad too. Does this call for turbo AND grousers. As i don't have the tank, I can't test it, but i think it would be worth to try. 3rd slot then for vents, optics or rammer - on personal favour.

I really do love this tank , i did buy it in like 2014 and i have hundreds of game play in it , armor is ok 👍, especially the turret , gun is amazing , but mobility is poor , after the turbo its ok

I remember this gun (if not even better) on myPz IV back in 2013 or so... It was so OP and dominating they removed it from the gun option :) But then, I also remember my arch enemy back in the day - KV-1S with a derp gun which was able to one shot me

This is a tank I know very well. It used to be a killer back in 8.7 and up until 9.3 but after that the gun became less reliable on pen and they nerfed the soft stats so that anything but an open road kept you down to 30 kph. Truly a shame as I really liked playing it back in the day and of course loved playing it when it was a Tier 5 tech tree improvement. If the game cared about balance they would lift the nerfs and give it a small speed bump so that at least you could maneuver with it.

Grousers would probably be better than a turbo, you only lose 1.2km/h top speed on hard but gain on medium and soft terrain. Even with BIA and ORD you'll never reach the top speed with a turbo on flat ground. Pus you gain a significant traverse increase. Only with food or 105 octane gas will a turbo give a slight edge on grousers speedwise.

Try grousers , turbo, driver with super driving skills and high test gas and leave half of your ammo in the garage Even leave off the camo because paint is heavy. Also get very small munchkin crew because they weigh less 😁

In general I think turbo isn't worth it at all, the only tanks it would be worth it is the very slow TDs and the STRV line, because it increases their speed while being in seige mode.

Ive had one for years and never played it but started too last year have a better than average 60-odd % win rate after 100 battles. I run it with a turbo because yes it’s sluggish to get moving. Turret can bounce but it’s the gun accuracy, shell velocity and penetration of the 75mm squeeze bore gun that is a bit special. Shame the alpha is so low.

This is an underrated tank but that said the lack of an engine with a glass hull really hurts especially with having the transmission in the front. The turret does time to time bounce shells people would think to be an auto pen much to their surprise.

Its funny, I have never asked you to play a tank and was just thinking yesterday to ask you to play this one. I started to play this tank again about two months ago and found that it is still a pretty good tank. I put a turbo on it to make up for its bad mobility, which I think is the main problem with the tank and why people might have a hard time playing it. From my experience a turbo is a must on this tank, along with the right field modifications, and makes it a far better than not using one. It has a good gun for its tier, it fires quick, it has good camo, and decent turret armor. On the down side it engine gets knocked out very easily and it catches on fire a bit to often, the hull armor is bad, and its mobility leaves a lot to be desired. It is one of those tanks that takes a bit of skill to play well, but if you can make it work it can be a beast in a same tier game.

Played a series of games in PzIV(S) before Christmas and got 10 kills in tier 7 match making on Paris map. Vents, rammer, optics works just fine playing to the tanks strengths. Trying to make a sloth vehicle into a cheetah isn't worth it in most situations.

Only premium T6 German MT crew trainer for now. Most likely will stay that way since there is more money for WG in T8 and sure to be soon T9 premiums. Most likely still use the Pz V/IV as my main mid tier trainer.

They took our tier 5 pz 4 away from the start of the game and put side skirts on it made it tier 6 premi with a weaker engine. So sad. This is the pz 4 from back in the day when the game started.

This thing was fairly good as a tier 5, about balanced with the other things there at the time. Especially since it had to see tier 8 tanks pretty much all the time. Which it really struggled with. But struggled less than other things. Never thought it would be a good one moved up to tier 6 with almost no buffs. Why would anyone choose something like this over say - a T34-85M? That thing is actually decent against tier 8 tanks.

And hull armor, even when the value is not bad, has no angeling so most tier 6 mediums even with a little less thickness can be more effective against the lower tiers in bounceing. I have this tank in garage for like 1 or 2 years already but as it's for 10 battles only well i got it from the bonus code of wg... So as it's only for 10 battles i haven't played with it yet... 🙄 But i'll gonna need to spend some time and get rid of those 5-10 battles tanks... Got 8 of those... 🤔 WG should make more bonus codes as there was a code with Primo Victoria well not for 5 not for 10 battles but for 3 days + premium acc 1 or 3 days... And i believe they would make more money from those than from 5-10 battles because for example i got baaaaaaaaaaaaaad day today 15+ battles and less than 30% WR... So if i would play with those 5-10 battles tanks i would really not think about buying them simply because of f'up day... Yes i'm not thinking to buy the Primo Victoria but only because i played with it 19 battles got the ''Ace Tanker'' got average stats... + 58% WR... I LOVE THIS TANK!! Put on turbo, IRM, and either vents or acc mod and you are Farming! Many newer played don't know what to do with you, they quickly try to run away ROFL! I usually can get 1500+ per game, and I usually win, even today! Great premium tank even in today's meta. No one at this Tier can do what this tank does. EDIT: I hate when Skill pulls a critical mod like vents for the turbo and then claims that turbo is not worth it on this vehicle. You can't improve a vehicle while downgrading it at the same time. Yes keep the vents OF FUCKING COURSE!!!! Put on the turbo and the IRM also. You dont need a rammer.
