Even then, over 23 years ago, this Kammanhalli main road neighbourhood where I grew up was a food paradise. Food magic restaurant existed back then; we could get a half chicken curry for as little as 20 rupees, a half plate of 6 piece tandori chicken for 20 rupees at Old Kadai restaurant, an Andhra-style lunch for 22 rupees at AC Abhiruchi Restaurant, and a full non-vegetarian thali for 35 rupees at Empire Hotel. There were also a few true Chinese eateries like Kimling and Peking, where we once thought it was pricey to eat a tremendous quantity of chop sue for only 50 rupees. What gorgeous days they were!
