You also need to take in to consideration if you will be wearing body armor along with your bug out gear. Now your pushing 75-80 pounds depending on the type body armor you’re wearing. People have to train with their body armor and bug out gear so their body can handle that weight long distances and time.

The most important subjects, you told about. Well done! I was smiling about the joke about tampons. Some German survivalist preppers appreciate them as tinder, improvised waterfilter, even in improvised first aid. Different countries, different manners.😉

My biggest issue with my bag is organizing it right. I don't want to be digging through it to get to something and having to repack it all again. You may find that suddenly you have unwanted company and have to cram everything in the bag haphazardly to evade. Not everything can be in the top of the bag or the ready access pouches.

I do not believe in bugging out. I put a lot of effort in gathering supplies et cetera and once I leave my house that all is lost. However, if I am forced to leave, I would try and take the car or a bicycle and load it up. But if I have to sneak out on foot... I take a kind of purse that I hang around my belly. It contains a fighting knife, a few extra ammo magazines, a lighter, a pressure bandage, a whistle with a compass and a small metal mirror. For the rest, I have plenty of time to think of; I guess I take an extra back pack and fill it with extra clothes and some food.

Yeah, certainly guilty of number 1 and it being overweight, although I built mine with its the only bag I can grab, for my wife and I, and we get out for more than 3 days….which is also why there is a spare backpack to offload it to her bag once we are out. Any time we go camping or hiking though, my Bob gear is my primary gear, so I know it is working and am familiar with it. Also have it packed out where these items are easy to grab and replace when I return. Great video Dale!

For me, my largest issue is preparing a bug out bag for a child that cannot carry their own. So I have a double weighted bag because I have a 2yr old. Included is pullups, wipes, numerous changes of clothes and whatnot. My older boys can help and so can my husband, but we have to be real bugging out is going to be painful for us

be sure you have a good off-road type stroller. larger tires and can help carry lots of things for kids. we have 3 and have a double stroller we take everywhere even if we dont use it day to day. even if Im Alone when SHTF I can load the stroller and take a load off my body to start so Im not over tired.

Yep for sure you have to test your gear. You can't just use a slingshot to hunt small game automatically. Have to practice beforehand.

I love my beer. But I have a hip flask filled with vodka. Coming off alcohol abrupt sucks. So I'll use it for days to ween myself off alcohol.

I carry a zippo lighter. A pouch for it. Flints in my pocket and a small can of fuel in my bag. This will last longer then Bic lighters.
@deadweight2049
@deadweight2049 6 ай бұрын
A zippo won't last longer than a Bic. Zippo fuel evaporates in the lighter and burns through fuel way faster than a Bic. I have Bic's that have been run through the washer, dryer, packed with mud, washed off, and they still work...five years later.

@@deadweight2049 Well my set up will last longer then one Bic lighter. Plus it's easier to use and don't go out in the wind nearly as easy as a Bic lighter.
@deadweight2049
@deadweight2049 6 ай бұрын
@shaynehawkins713 a five pack of Bic lighters would last longer than the zippo setup. They're light and pack easy. Why would you try to light a fire without a windbreak, or just using your other hand, jacket, shirt, or body to block the wind? You do you man, but your doing yourself a disservice relying on clunky overweight WW1 tech.

I consider my bag a inch bag. I'm not coming home bag. Leaving because society is fucked. Then making camp. Survival gear to hunt. Most things we don't need. My bag was getting heavier and heavier. It's light now. Plus I have a vest with lots of pockets. Things I'll use often in it.

The problem i have is that for me bugout in terms of living in the wilderness is completely unrealistic (at least in my situation). Im nearly 50 living in a big city in a country with high population density and not much wilderness left which crushes any romantic notions about surviving the apocalypse i ever had. Thats why my "bug out bag" is more for having to leave my apartment and less for wilderness survival. I keep taking out the survival stuff and only leave the bare minimum like a knife, compass, stuff to make a fire, some cordage to make shelter with a rain poncho and things to treat/filter water. Just enough to prevent dying but not all i would need to keep living outside. Which means i have no tarp/tent, camp stove of any kind, axe etc packed. Stuff like first aid, basic hygiene, clothes, water/food for 2-3 days etc. i do have of course.

@@grayssoncarl5020 Yeah I pondered this whole bugging out thing recently. I'd rather stay in my apartment. If I have to leave go where? I thinking bugging in is more realistic.

@@shaynehawkins713 A better name for such a bag would be emergency bag or go bag. It could be that you have a fire at home, have to go to the hospital or other reasons why you have to leave your home. This bags purpose is to not be naked without any ressources if you have to leave home without having time to pack things. In terms of a hospital go bag its the same but just for not having another person to go through your stuff to get you the things in an emergency especially if youre single. In my case my sister can just use my spare key and get the bag right behind the door when i have an accident that puts me into the hospital. Its just the "bugging out into the woods and living off the land" thing as the first reaction to a SHTF scenario thats imho unrealistic. For me its bugging in every scenario except your home gets destroyed or your life is more at risk at home than at the outside as a refugee. Because bugging out is nothing else than becoming a refugee.
