Having Korean Friends Makes Your Life Easy in Seoul.
Moving or traveling to South Korea? On your checklist, there is definitely one item you need to add, and that is making Korean friends. Having Koreans friends can make your life in Seoul, and in Korea so much easier than if you were alone. Koreans know better than foreigners how to navigate the nuances of Korean society, so why not have a Korean ally on your side to help you with your life here in Korea?
Making a Korean friend is a worthwhile experience as you have more inside info in how Korean society works, and what you can do make your life in Korea more comfortable. In this video, I detail some experiences in my life that made me realize why having native friends from the country where you live, move to, or travel to will have a big impact on your life! Don't try to do everything alone in Korea. Make a Korean friend and your stay in Korea will be that much better!

What are your thoughts about this topic? Do you think making friends who are native to the country where you live can help make your life in that country better?

Very well made, brother I am glad you have amazing people looking out for you I do agree and see the value of having local friends in wherever you go To me, they have keys to some of the best experiences you can ever have that you will otherwise probably not see and experience on your own

Making Korean friends is a very hard level to unlock but once you do its like this secret world of awesomeness that is hidden in plain sight. 😂 Discounts, access to places or that "last" item everybody is trying to get their hands on, etc. BTW, Samsung > apple

It is!! When you come to Korea, always remember to haggle wherever you can, but the best deals comes when a Korean is with you lol. That's where all the magic is hahaha.

It sounds like the korean system is anti-immigrant and it makes things difficult for foreigners.

I'm not sure if the Korean system is anti-immigrant, it's just that Korea is still a closed society that is slowly opening up. I think as time goes on, the system will indeed become more foreigner friendly:)

I have no idea about Korean system, however from my experience in Tokyo for years, I can tell you that the Japanese system and the society is definitely anti-immigrant or foreigners if they want to work in Japan.

I agree with your views. However, I wonder if it is easy for you Western foreigners to make real Korean friends. I talked to many Western friends who work and live in Japan for years, and they told me how difficult for them to make real friends with Japanese people.

I guess it depends on what definition of the word 'friend' one uses. Maybe there can be tiers of friendship. I've also heard from foreigners here that its difficult to become true friends with Koreans. I think as Korea opens up more and Koreans are more exposed to Koreans on a daily basis, it becomes, and will become, easier for foreigners to befriend Koreans.
