This is what sets this cannel apart from others, I learn something new on every video. I have two Ultras and an Infinity and to begin with I hated them all, but through you showing us the proper way to do things, my art is coming on great. I am not perfect or even close to perfect, but people who see my paintings want them, I just give them away, but everyone is happy. Thank You.

Thankyou so much for this video. I was using airbrush primer & mixed with thinner. Also used air army paints thinned down a bit as well. Cleaned it properly. Multiple times. Looks like there was a dodgy part on it so it's being replaced.

Fantastic advice on the nozzle caps there, I never even considered putting the Evo ones onto the Ultra! For an Ultra owner, would you advise investing in a smaller needle instead of just upgrading to an Evo that comes with a smaller one?

As always, useful straightforward advice. I have this brush but I have two issues with it. 1. The trigger seems very heavy compared to my others (Badger and Iwata) and I really don’t ‘get’ the sleeve settings - maybe because I am a 2D painter and these are not relevant to me?

when i started 10 years ago, i thought i could shoot auto-air straight from the bottle and try micro portraits....took me 5 years of trial and error...more error than anything else...clogging..frustration...nightmares....now i use a colour thinned to almost water to get micro detail...and build it up...surfaces are important too....lots of layers of gesso or sealer...the more solid the colour ...more air...bigger needle/nozzle size airbrush and quicker hand speed..lot more tip dry....i use from 0.2 up to 1. airbrush sizes....find a colour you like...play with it for hours, thinning it, test lines, solid builds, shades, use masks, your fingers...years ago this info you would pay serious money for...cant imagine the time Dred has endured to give you this info for free...enjoy....this channel is superb!!

Invaluable advice -- I have a Ultra and I have now got to grips with it (I think) , using your advice and guidance. I already use it for panting model kits. I am now feeling confident , thanks again to your content, to start using it for artwork. I am already fairly good at watercolour and oil and have , I think, had a bit of a "eureka moment" when approaching an airbrush piece of work. I think I should be constructing my pic as "back to front" and "light to dark". Do you think this sounds like the right approach ? Thanks for all the content -- truly invaluable !

Thank you so much. I asked exactly for something like this on your cleaning guide on the Evo `24. I never had problems with the Ultra, except for the cup not sitting right and leaking paint. Though that one bugged me a lot

Mine seems quite fiddly with tip dry. I get more tip dry with this airbrush than my cheap Master. Was using acrylic inks so paint mix not as much of an issue.

Is there any specific brand of "2k thinners" that you would recommend? Already have acetone and lacquer thinner which work fine but it never hurts to have options.

I am a miniature painter. I use Vallejo model colour and Vallejo model air. The difference between these to paints is the size of the grain used for pigment. I have thinned down the model colour to water like consistency, but had paint backing up to the trigger. Can the grain size of high pigment paint, even when thinned to water consistency, clog the brush and cause back flow to the trigger? Thank you.
@dredfxcustompaint

@@iantully4222 you shouldn't be getting going back to the trigger always keep your airbrush pointing down in the hanger

I must now try oil base and normal water base emulsion, it might just be a mind blowing experience, but its knowing how to thin it, i have no emulsion to try it, but will try it, obviously thinning it right down, it might work, 🤣

Does room temp affect ur paint? My room is pretty cold. I'm painting larger models & using army painter Air & mixing 1 drop of thinner to 2 drops of paint. It dried so fast that it immediately blocked up & then, when I changed to another colour, the paint went to the back of the brush & had to clean the whole thing. Wtf am I doing wrong? I'm ready to quit at this point. I'm working on control a lot as well. Trying to practice etc.
@dredfxcustompaint

@@Owl-Darling the paint shouldn't be drying out that quick if it's an acyclic try a couple of drops water with it and make sure your Airbrush is in the holder or hanger pointing nose down not tipping backwards

@Owl-Darling 5 күн бұрын
I did it. Finally. Thanks so much. You have no idea how much u helped me. I was ready to quit & sell it all lol. I mix the paint in a wee tub & that seems to have made the difference. Think the last airbrush had a wee fault somewhere because no matter what I did, it wouldn't do anything. Got it replaced & all is good. Gonna start working on those control grids & hopefully improve more. The mistake I made was putting a couple of drops of thinner in the brush, then a few drops of paint. It wasn't mixed & think that was the issue. Anyway tyvm. Xx
