If you own a Condo or House you can get a Yellow Book and Pink ID. Provided you meet certain conditions: Yellow house book. Also known as a Tabien Baan, this government-issued document lists foreign residents of a condo or house in Thailand. To get a yellow house book, you must meet the following conditions: Have a freehold or leasehold condo or house registered at the Land Department Have a Thai spouse or a non-immigrant or longer visa Have no criminal record Occupy the property as your main residence in Thailand Apply to the amphoe office that administers civil registrations for the district or municipality where the condo is located

Chuck I've had yellow book and id card for 5 years however I am not married to my partner. It's a resident document that even a landlord can do if they're willing.

I have a yellow book and pink card and there is a lot of paperwork and questions to answer and you will need two witnesses who will also be questioned and have to fill in forms etc. The pink card is only valid in your home province, it is not like a Thai id card. I did use the yellow book to renew my licence though so it has its uses.

Hi Chuck the pink ID and the yellow Tabian ban is fantastic for many local issues the Thai officer at hospital or any other office will love you for that and now with the Tax thingy is gold for the Tax office because the ID number is the TIN.

Hi Chuck, I'm moving back to Thailand next year, (up to Lan Hoi - Sukhothai Province) after a couple of years back here in Oz. In your Vid's you give your Thai word of the day. On your Vid when you say the word but sometimes it's difficult to understand the pronunciation, maybe when you're editing, you can write it the way it sounds, (maybe leave it on the screen for a minute) it would be a big help to understand the way to say it (the tones won't be there) but seeing it gives a dummy like me a start. Sometime in January we will go to Khon Kaen to stay at the Kosa Hotel you showed us, hopefully one day i'd like to meet you & have a game of golf with you. Hi Chuck, I've had my "Yellow Book" and "Pinkie" for 19 years here. It's great to use for hotels, buying phone sims, banking and more. Very underated by farang and I do not carry a passport any where, but Immigration!

For your Mom, I do have a Bangkok Bank "credit card". I put that in quotes since I would not call it a credit card--I had to authorize a hold on a fixed amount (in my case 20,000 THB) in my savings account, and that is the limit on my "credit card". The bank is not extending me any credit, it's my 20,000 reserve that is guaranteeing the card. But it is a plastic card with my own name on it, and it does work perfectly online, and in person at places like HomePro, Tesco, and PTT. Whichever bank your Mom uses may do something similar. For me, I got annoyed with the US bank exchange rate and fees whenever I use my US card in Thailand. With my Thai card in Thailand there aren't any extra fees added to my purchase.

I tried to talk to a BKK branch about a secured card like that and got a flat no. But quite the language barrier. I need to call the support line where I can find someone who speaks English and give it another go. Good to it is apparently possible.

It would be nice if expats that a married to a Thai would get 5 or 10 years extension, could join the Thai health system and not have to do the TM47 90 days report - our wifes are watching us 24/7 anyway so they can ask them if they want to know where we are. My understanding is that the number on my pink ID card is automatically my Thai tax ID number. Also, from observed first hand experience, I saw the yellow book with my own eyes for my single, unmarried non-Imm O no work permit friend. He first got one in his Chonburi rental, and later in his Udon rental.

You have to register your pink card at the tax office to be able to use that number for paying taxes, it is not automatically done when you receive it.

Hi Chuck & Paige. Have you heard of Tim Newton? He lives north of Pukket and uses Thai legal agents to do all his legal paperwork. He has had his Thai drivers licenses renewed w/o issue. Am not sure there are legal agents in your province, but may talk to them in the future.

I would only say If you have $500-$1,000...instead of just doing the paperwork yourself, this is IDEAL, but I got my Yellow book locally (and the Local Town Admin) helpd us get the right stuff together, the issue was ---- IT WAS THE FIRST YELLOW BOOK THEY HAD EVER ISSUED IN 20 years, so the slow-motion effect is sometimes the local admin-office not knowing how to issue the document. It took 4 weeks, BUT no issues.

Been dealing with logistics in Thailand for 8 years now. most provinces in Thailand don't have agencies or allow agencies to represent a foreigner. Nakhon Phanom is one of them....Next year will get my Yellow book as I say in the video 😉

You also need a yb to buy a car or motorbike. My wife ordered the ID and the yb 3 month after landing in Thailand. You can also fly national with your ID card. After 3 full years visa in Thailand, you also can apply for permanent resident in Thailand. No 90 days policy station . No annual visa run anymore.

I bought a motorbike and a SUV, both in my wife's name easier to deal with. I can fly anywhere using my driver's license. You cannot get a permanent resident without work permit already been down that road. 90 day check-ins are online. I've never made a Visa run. Have a nice day

You only have to get a letter from immigration if you want to buy a new car in your name easy I did it 5 minutes in immigration 200 baht

@notime2bsad you are married. Sure you can have pr in Thailand without taxes. I can apply next November. In May I have 3 years visa in Thailand. You can only apply from October to December. And you need minimum 3 years visum. The apply is 7.6k thb the real pr if accepted for married ppl is 96k for the pr status as married to a Thai national. Not married is 195k thb

@notime2bsad normally you need 3 years full visa. Then you can ask immigration. But this year is closed. Next fall , maybe September you can ask for permanent residence. This is not citizenship. I agree with you, we are both to old for the process of thai citizenship. And for what, to vote? I voted maybe 3 times in Switzerland and never in canada.

I live in Rayong and in the past I could use the yellow book when renewing my license, this year they would no longer accept it. Had to make a one hour trip each way to get a certificate of residence. Sounds like things are a lot more lenient up in your area. Just to let you know your will be in Thai in the book and on your ID card

We hold great admiration for Thap Phnom, which is situated in close proximity to the Mekong River. My girlfriend's family resides in Amnat Charoen, where they engage in agricultural activities, while we currently reside in Hua Hin. I had to get passport and parents name translated, but when I checked the translated spelling on google translate, it wasn't the same! 🤣 LOL

You are right. Seems that I cannot find 3 people that had the same Thai immigration experience I had. It is random with no rhyme or reason. Now people can just go to Philippines and get a digital nomad visa good for 5 years (I just did it). Not difficult, if you have your requirements ready, it goes smoothly. But you cannot get it in Thailand. You have to leave. FYI: Thai Embassy in Manila is consistent and very helpful.

@@notime2bsad No need to live in the Philippines. Any Thai embassy outside of Thailand will work. I go to Philippines because I have a Filipina wife. I know my way around this country. The Thai embassy is easy to find and use and very helpful folks. I'd rather move back to Bangkok with my wife and son (they are covered by the digital nomad visa). We used to live there but left for personal reasons.

Unless you want to obtain a new visa each year, i just have my retirement visa extended, usually that is an easy prosses, I need to do it next month, last year took 45 min. We spoke with local office here about a yellow house book. Good grief what a set of rqmts for them. Translations of many things including my birth certificate. And couldn't stress enough how "official/certified" the translations have to be. Meant some serious cash for the services and multiple trips to Chiang Mai. Too much for something that looks to have very little usefulness for ME. Likely more useful and worth it for others.

Hi Chuck, I tried to get my yellow book and ID card but my local amphur wanted a translation of my passport, legalised at the Department of Foreign Affairs in Bangkok. Foreign Affairs wanted me to get the passport certified at my Embassy. This was during covid when a visit to the embassy required an appointment made weeks in advance, so it all stalled there as I had only a few days in Bangkok. I think the same as you - Immigration seem the think my passport is genuine - what is the problem! Maybe I'll try again....

Hi Chuck and Paige! Another benefit to the Pink Thai ID Card are the discounts offered by many Attractions here in Thailand. You don't have to pay the Farang price!! There is an ID Number on the Pink Card. I have used my Pink Card as ID at the Post Office. And there is no Expiration Date on my Pink ID Card! 😀😎👍😉
