Very interesting video! Some Saturn boards have leaky caps. At least one of mine did. After replacing those, it read discs fine again. Same with a PSOne. So while replacing caps is not always the solution for every problem, it might actually help in this case.

@@knortn I'll definitely look into recapping at least the disk drive and see if that helps. It's weird that 3 different lasers didn't work at all
@knortnАй бұрын
@@RetroZero64 could also be an issue with the other pots on the disc drive board being "scratchy". You could try spraying some deoxit on them and then give them a few turns. Mark their positions before doing that. :) I'd definitely also check the caps on the saturn motherboard, while they might not look that bad, they certainly can be, as I had to learn the hard way after trying to diagnose the issue without replacing them first...

Most of them have dead hard drive. Still possible to change it wit a sd2scsi adapter but it doesn’t mean that it works because this machine has a ton of capacitors and if one or more is down it almost over ( except if you know exactly which capacitors and can change it). I know this because I used to have 2 of these. I still have one dead ( some capacitors are dead but I don’t know which and I don’t want to change 80 capacitors…)

The new lasers you’ve bought are not dead. They are sent out with the anti static safety bridge connected. On the ribbon there is 2 pads that will be bridged with solder. You have to break that connection by removing the solder. Then it will allow the laser to work
