Hey Jamie and Rob!! Wow what a transformation! Hoping y'all make it back to Wisconsin this year. We are in the process as well of turning our back yard into a food forest. Also we just funded our first food forest for a family in Nicaragua. Love learning how to garden in symbiosis with nature after planting in rows for so many years. Really glad you are sharing your experience and cant wait to see your next vid...

Love what you guys have done! We are in HPP and looking at property and want to do an off grid situation too. Are there LFAs where you are? Also how is the mold situation and mosquitos? Was the land cleared before you bought it?
@regenerootshawaii31424 жыл бұрын
Katarzyna S thank you so much! That’s awesome 🤙🏼 we do not personally have fire ants here and I haven’t heard of many of my neighbors having them. We are very cautious about what we bring into the property. The mold is prevelant. I feel it’s unavoidable no matter where you live. Were pretty good at keeping the mosquitos at bay. As long as we don’t keep any water sitting around without screen they aren’t too bad. And a 1/4 of the 3 acres had been ripped 20 years prior, so when we did some clearing it was apparent where the previous owner had gotten work done. It was nice because we had a driveway and a small structure on the property when we bought it, so that was a plus! All the rest of the land was raw so we did some hand clearing on one portion, and then got some dozer work on another 1/4 acre. We still have like 1.5 acres that we haven’t touched! Lots of land to work with!

bone hammer I hear ya. The economy can be tough on the east side of the island. I would say for us living off grid we spend probably $100 a month? Hard to say. We have animals so pretty much we’re spending money on them, gas for the car, and propane for cooking/showering. We Are on food stamps so don’t really have to worry about food expenses. Robs on disability because he has back pain and can’t really do the landscaping work he was doing before.
@regenerootshawaii31425 жыл бұрын
bone hammer I guess it all depends what you’re looking for. There’s quite a bit of landscaping opportunities if you have your own equipment. I know our friends just got jobs as bus drivers. And the plan is to continue making KZbin videos, but it’s been tough with everything else in life plus having the computer charge/WiFi to upload the videos!! More to come soon ♥️ thanks for your interest and encouragement!

mellowed yellow thank you for your support! Definitely we usually are the first place people land to get familiar with the island. So far we’ve only had a handful of work traders that were all through word of mouth/ mutual friends. We have limited space at the moment, so not really seeking out work traders but open to people coming!

@@randallmedeiros2684 lol this is how many people are living on this island. The building and health depts couldn’t care less. It’s a different type of world out here. + this video was from our first year, and we’ve made a lot of progress in the 5+ years living here.
