Abslolutely talented player, who shows that the little ukulele, though appearing bound by limitations in range and size, really has no limitations in the hands of fine player like Abe Lagrimas! His musical ideas just flow continually! Thanks!

Aloha! Mahalo for sharing all of these inspiring videos! I'm taking my second trip to Kauai soon and purchased a ukulele last week for some beach entertainment. In about a week, with the help of your tutorial videos, I can play a variety of songs and can jam some pretty sweet sounding jazz chords. When I purchased my Uke I had no idea that this level of skill and musicianship existed for this instrument. This is definitely something I will keep doing! Mahalo and Aloha!

I am very particular about which jazz guitarists I listen to and I would definitely include you on my list...if I was awash with money, I would send you a Gibson L5 just to hear you on it! All the best to you. You have great phrasing and articulation, hoping that you continue this now rare genre of great music.

You are right but I think what he meant was having the tabs for the melody, the main theme, the rest, of course is pure improvisation ;D

Tabs, tabs, tabs...Christ people learn to play the friggin instrument!
@raymcmahan50806 жыл бұрын
Tabs are a valid way to learn. Sure it'll stop one from advancing past a certain point, but plenty of people start out by learning using tabs. Tabs are an easy way to just get started playing. And when one's a beginner in anything, one of the most important things is for it to be fun. I'd rather have someone start with tabs and fall in love with the music and their instrument and then progress later to the music staff.
@playing_jazz6 жыл бұрын
Tabs been a good way to write guitar music for hundreds of years but yeah I could probably play the head the way this artist did or close enough after one listen. You won't get there without using your ears.

Nice enough but, James Hill demonstrates a method whereby the guitar part is intimated by a strum between melody notes on the uke. Much more impressive.

Art is not a matter of being impressive. Imho this sounds much better than James Hill's version (and is more impressive too by the way)
