Jonathan himself plays the game, and he often interacts with the players for mechanics-based questions and confusions, at least back in the days on both the subreddit and the forums. No wonder he'd actually know what ARPG fans really want.

I was still rooting for D4 till the PoE2 preview and then that "Diablo-like" tweet dropped. It single-handedly told us exactly why the game sucks. They don't even understand that end game content is not the same as things to do when in the end game. Yes, one-shotting a boss 3000 times for zero drops is a thing to do, albeit lame. Let em burn.

diablo is part of blizzard who's part of activision who was bought out by microshaft. D4 also made a boat load of cash off their crappy game. I don't think selling the IP is in the cards, nor is diablo becoming D2 in the cards. They are not for the gamers or online audiences anymore, they are for the casual gamers now

The sad thing about blizzard devs is they are so petty they will most likely put in code in future games if Hawg buys and streams and nerf his drops or ban him for any reason possible because they are petty dickheads.

If only the tooling and tutorials to *make* games were better these days. Basically, it's like "look, nobody's ever gonna compete with Path of Exile for the audience that wants to sink 5000 hours into a game". But at the OTHER end of the spectrum, when its main competition is called "bad" and "dogshit", why does it still take a century of man hours to develop a minimum viable product ?8( I wonder when GenAI/LLMs will allow human beings to actually use English to write code, do level design, prototype ideas, etc. etc. etc.

campaign skip could still be a thing on new alts in a same campaign. his explanation doesn't address that. Sure a new league you have to do campaign again, but why do you need to do campaign on each additional alt after that if we are all on the same playing field then? one of main reasons i stopped playing POE 1 is i didn't want to spend an entire weekend off getting past campaign again, and this is also why i don't make alts in POE 1, getting past campaign once is already too much. However if they made it so you only did it once per new league, i would be more then happy to play with alts. In POE 2 just because it's new, i likely will create at least 2, maybe 3 chars realistically for POE 2 and do campaign 3 times (6 if you include cruel), but in future leagues i likely will go back to only doing it once and making only one build, because i just can't be bothered doing campaign over and over, which sucks in a game that is mainly about end-game. I appreciate them not listening always to public and following their vision, but sometimes they are stubborn on things that could help their game.
@musicmucker50 минут бұрын
My guess is even though it isn't ideal for a lot of players, they have hit on something that minimizes burnout and keeps people hype to return and spend money league after league. I have been on one character per league for a couple years now and wish every time that alts could heist/delve from level 1 or even just start with all the waypoints my first char unlocked. But being completely honest, I don't think it would lead me to buying more packs than I already do.

It isn't "normal" when someone goes above and beyond their expectations. You applaud and praise this type of behavior, but it shouldn't be expected. You should not fault a developer for not dedicating every waking second of their life to their game. Not every developer is working on a passion project that started in their friend's garage. I'm not sticking up for greedy corporations that abuse their customers but let's not exaggerate here, you just want to normalize a setting that is fair and reasonable. It reminds me of when developers were talking about Baldur's Gate 3 and how it shouldn't be the new standard for customer's expectations of quality, and gamers lashed out since they saw it from such a negative lens (lazy devs!). But in reality, those developers weren't really wrong, although I think they should've kept their insecurities to themselves. I imagine any indie developer who is struggling to compete would agree, which is basically all of them. But even bigger studios shouldn't be required to dump 10 years of their lives into a single product with the sole purpose of entertaining you. You occasionally get an extreme outlier - an amazing masterpiece that some kind strangers across the globe have poured their hearts and time into, but that is NOT normal. It should definitely be rewarded though!
@bobhadababy4079Сағат бұрын
Developers caring about the game they are making, should be normal. Developers who are passionate about games and care about what they are doing and the product they are creating, should not be considered above and beyond expectations. The view you are taking is the problem in media industry today.
@coachmcguirk827756 минут бұрын
@@bobhadababy4079 Most developers do care about their games though, and releasing a bad game doesn't mean they didn't. The major source of the problem has to do with greedy, out of touch upper management. So someone like Bobby Kotick - who openly admitted to disliking video games while managing a titan in the gaming industry. I sense a lot of entitlement among gamers, likely due to being spoiled all of our lives. You cannot expect an endless of supply of high quality and innovative sequels to your favorite childhood games - the original creators are likely long gone, along with the original company owners, and many other factors. The people working on those games are just doing their jobs, not everyone is working in their friend's garage putting everything on the line with a massive gamble that could fail horribly.
