Hawk 250 DLX... Can your Hawk do this? (80 MPH!!)

Patrick Choi and I have both gotten our carbureted Hawks up to 82 mph top speed. That is with ported and polished heads, decatted exhaust, pod filter, and a Nibbi carb. We also run a 17/40 sprocket combination and Shinko 705s. He has almost 20,000 miles on his and I have 10,500 miles on mine without any issues.

i took mine up 76 mph (stock speedo I wish someone knew the actual speed), did take a little bit to get there, i have 17/43, nibbi carb and exhaust. I live in miami and raods here are extremely flat...i love my hawk

Mine will hit 65 or so but I'm still running the original gearing so I don't like running at that high an RPM for to long. I do plan on putting the 300cc big bore kit and a cam in her next spring then I'll do the sprocket changes 😎👍 95% of my driving is out in the desert so I'm not worried about top speed to much.

Nice. I got mine to hit 79 once. Now it's so beat up, I'm lucky to make it to work without losing a new piece of the bike.

@@SimonRiley115 Lmfao. You're not joking. Unfortunately, I skipped that step on initial assembly and it's so much to go over now. Now it's off the streets and just bombing the back roads and trails. It's trash but so much fun. Worth what I paid.

i got 2023 hawk dlx 250 efi and it came with 17 and 45 sprockets and i weigh 180 and got 75 mph out of it stock on flat road not downhill

I have one now but I owned many ,honda,kawi, and yamaha. And these hawks are not that bad for a cheap bike. I have the hawk dlx efi. Been riding 40 + years. It's real fun just getting out and about then hit a trail or 2. It's what I wanted because I'm older now and don't want to bust my body up. I've done all that crazy stuff on my better bikes. Now I just want to ride , cruise!

I did one mod that cured all my problems. Bought a XR650L. Now I can hit triple digits lol. 80 mph is about little over 1/4 throttle. 105 mph is full throttle. You want to do 80 safely get a bigger bike.

either a 17 front/45 rear, 17 front/43 rear, or even 18 front/ 45 rear all fit with about 136 chain links. The thing is about the gear ratio, get it down from 2.8!

@KrossLong No you sacrifice some torque for some horsepower that you gain

@KrossLong It’s been very long since I had a dirtbike, but do a ratio with front sprocket less teeth and rear sprocket more teeth. Any ratio will work you may have to get a higher rated chain like more than 530. This gives your bike more torque- acceleration. You gotta find that sweet spot depending on how modded your engine is with air/fuel mixture. Acceleration doesn’t mean more speed just that it gets your bike going faster. Make sure you keep an eye on the studs on rear as they can snap.

Well I've done all the mods to my hawk 250 and it still only goes 56 wtf! Stock carb but re jetted. I'm giving up on this hunk of Chinese shit and buying a xlr or klx 650

your mistake was buying the carbureted version! The chinese carbs and carb run bikes aren't as reliable as fuel injected models. Maybe you need to change the sprockets and upgrade your air intake.

Change the carb go 150 main .and 17t front and 39 in the back sprocket.i seen guys this setup over 200 pounds get 65-70
