We live in crazy times and used bike prices have increased dramatically since this video was made. I think in 2020 it was a no-brainer to buy a used Japanese bike over a new Chinese bike of the same price. However, today in 2022 I might seriously consider a Chinese bike if I only had $2,000. Good luck finding a used bike that even runs for $2,000 today.

TBH I have a 2019 brozz 250 (same bike different name). I’ve owned it for a little over 2 years with 0 issues. Bought it brand new 0 miles from a local scooter shop that imports them. So I was able to avoid any assembly and paid 2,100 for it after tax/tag/title. I’ve done several (10+) 1-2 hour highway rides. Although not ideal, it didn’t give any issues and I had fun. I’ve mad no changes and it hits 65-70mph, but that could also be the Florida elevation. I’ve also taken off road on plenty of trails and even light kidding with it. The bike has somewhere around 1,000 miles on it, 1 oil change at 600 miles and other than a nail through the front tire I haven’t had to replace anything. For parts I’m told I can order CSC TT250 parts from CSC motorcycles in Cali so that solves any future problems I might have. And they also offer no questions asked warranty if you buy a TT250 from them. I can honestly say I’ve gotten plenty of smiles per gallon from my little China bike and it’s 100% worth it. I even sold my Honda Grom cause I found myself way more fond of the Brozz 250. If you understand what you’re buying, and the main reason for buying it some commuting and exploring I can’t recommend these bikes enough. The Hawk DLX/Brozz 250/CSC TT250/TBR7 all are great bikes and plenty reliable.

The reason the bike fell was not the tires. You had your clutch disengaged and not in the friction zone, I watched your left hand depressing the clutch lever, this cause the bike to lose momentum and fall with it's own weight and not staying upright. Anytime you're moving slow or turning slow you must be in the friction zone giving some gas to keep the bike up.

I know you guys are trying to say that a "new" bike shouldn't require any initial maintenance on your part, but you are forgetting that you skipped the dealer side by buying this thing from Amazon directly. Had the bike been assembled by the dealer, they would have seen that front brake, and bled it, before they put it on the showroom floor for someone to test ride. Bad brakes don't sell bikes, and can be a liability if the test rider crashes because of them. Anyway, for $2k, I would buy an actual Honda Hawk GT (88 through 94), or Honda Shadow DLX, instead of that thing that steals pieces of both names. Chances are, I would have to bleed the brakes on any $2k bike I have to buy (apparently new or used by the sounds of your experience).

Hawks are good bikes. I have the carb version. Its has taken me just over 11000 trouble free miles in the last 2.5 years. I just retired it as my commuter. 70+ miles daily. Now it takes a 4 mile trip to the trails and then beat to tears by me and my 280lb frame off road. Its taken more drops off road than I can count. Still rocking stock plastics. They are super easy to work on and extremely reliable as long as you aren't in a hurry on the road. At least in my experience. BTW I also have a 99 Xr650. Love both bikes. The hawk does need changes from the box. But once dialed in its a great bike. Got mine 2nd for 600 bucks. So with 2200 bucks I got my xr650 and my hawk + all the mods I've made to the hawk. In my eyes it's been money well spent.

@@coreygalvin4921 when I was running the stock carb I started with a 20 pilot jet and a 110 main jet. It tunned close enough for awhile. Tuned better with a 22.5p/115main . Bottom screw under carb 1.5 turns out side screw 2.5 turns out from the screws being lightly seated. Also bottom screw has cap on it. Take a pick or small flathead screw driver to get it out. You will have to also notch the screws on the bottom of your carb to remove the bowl. We have a Facebook group with a bunch of like minded Hawk owners trading tips and tricks. Called the Hawk 250 Enduro owners. Mine works much smoother with the vm26 30mm carb upgrade from Amazon. Its almost plug and play. Also adjust your valves and change factory oil out. I use Rotella t4. Factory spec says valves should be adjusted to .004 on intake and .005 on exhaust but my bike like .002 intake/ carb side and .003 exhaust. Makes Kickstart easier. Hope this helped and good luck hawkin.

Japanese motorcycles got the same crap back in the 60’s! Much better today. Chinese bikes are reverse engineered or clones of older Japanese bikes. Alex and Kase, I have two equal flat track bikes for you to ride out here at the ranch! You know my number. Lots of smiles per hour! Thx guys!

These guys clearly pay others for the knowledge they don’t have. Nothing wrong with that at all until you start trying to give advice or a product review. Literally start the video by trying to dilute bad gas gas already in the tank! Anyone who has ever worked on small engines will tell you that you can’t dilute bad gas, you replace it. As in flush it out and replace with fresh, preferably with recreational fuel. I’ve worked on all the Japanese bikes and a few of the Chinese bikes. Parts are easy to find and cheap if you know where to look. Many of them are available on Amazon. No mistake, a Chinese bike is no Japanese bike, but they are not priced the same either. Chinese bikes need maintenance and are priced accordingly, Japanese bikes are engineered for people that don’t maintain and are priced accordingly as well. Go watch Bikes and Beards beat on of these, then you will understand how much abuse they can take and how they perform with experienced riders. Theirs is also $500 cheaper than this one because this one has EFI as opposed to carbureted.

Most of your complaints are from not doing the prep any dealer would do on a new bike out of the box. You do not get any brand out of the box all good, the dealer always go through and bleed brakes and adjust everything, that is part of the prep. You bought it out of the box and so you need to do the prep, complaining in every video about it is making you look like you know nothing about what a new car, motorcycle dealer will do when a vehicle or motorcycle is checked in and prepped. Call a motorcycle dealer and have them show you what they do so you learn and and grow with it. Since you started showing this bike youtube has sent me to 4 other people doing this bike, they ALL knew to do the prep on a bike out of the box and one is a 15 year old kid. I like the channels but don't complain repeatedly about something you skipped.

Not saying my Hawk is perfect but I paid $1,200 (carb version 5 years ago) and I put about $300 into it with a rejetted Mikuni, digital dash/tach, different sprocket and other farkels. I have a 2020 Honda CRF125 for my wife and a 2021 CRF50 for my son, that is about $7,000 in motorcycles. Quality, no comparision the Hondas win. My Hawk does 65 mph on flat roads (takes a bit to get there) and it always starts. The first rules about a mail order china bike 1) change the oil, the shipping oil is trash. 2) set the valves, they are too tight and need to be lashed 3) go over every nut and bolt and locktite the important ones :) There are more of these (or this variant) of motorcycle made than any of the big Japanese brands as that is all the rest of the world can afford. Do the above mentioned items and you will find years of riding (albeit slow) enjoyment on your China bike.

Quality of the brand and sourcing those parts in China. That’s my main issue for any vehicle or bike. Another hate on made in China parts is the steel: somehow it get oxidized faster than it normally should. First, the gentlemen in this video do actually seem knowledgeable about motorcycles, but, how many motorcycles have they received in a box that they had to put together? My point is, there are things you should expect to have to adjust, you aren't getting a dealership type of experience. The bike doesn't have a lot of power, pretty sure the valves don't need adjusting, it's just what it is. There are tons of parts that are compatible with these bikes, and a lot of parts from japanese bikes fit these. I busted a break line in WV, went to a Honda dealership and was able to use a break line they had, back on the trails again. These bikes are far easier to work on than Japanese bikes as well, they are just simpler...not much to them, because there's nothing special about them. I have this exact same motorcycle, bought it brand new in 2020 and I absolutely love it (I did change the sprockets on it), does it compare to my Honda, no, absolutely not, but do I get a ton of fun out of it? absolutely, and have had zero mechanical issues with it in the two years that I've had it.

Great video guys! The Hawk was tempting but I ultimately went with a 1989 Yamaha XT350 with only 1700 miles on it. It needs some love but I still feel like it’s the better choice in the end. Plus it has a 6th gear and more cc’s.

There is a lot of good criticism but at the same time you gotta remember it’s a cheap bike and I think it’s worth the money

I'm thinking that pheasant flying out of the tree at 8:50 would taste really good for a New Year's Eve dinner... When I started riding we didn't need no stinking head light on during the day time, not even a helmet. That's how we learned to ride and take the lumps. lol If I had two grand to blow away, I'd spend it on hookers! At lease that would leave me with a smile on my face.

Its just a trail bike and great little bike to commute on around town or short rides to work to save on some gas money. Its 2 grand , cmon ! Its fine for what it is.

This is a rumor I heard. Let me know if its true. The patent had run its time and the China bike companies are just building 20 year old motor designs, and using that for the new bikes. I however don't see China care if there is a patent but who knows? No really who does know?
@AndrewDasilvaPLT4 жыл бұрын
Similar to the gy6 motors?
@badgerpa94 жыл бұрын
No china does not care about patents, they have a car they sell in china that is an exact replica of a buick and GM lets it go so they can get cheap labor on the crap parts from there. Check CBC canada broadcasting sometime for there videos about china and patents.

Every new engine needs to break in. You guys beat it since you got it brand new. Doing off road, max speed testing, 6000 rpm. And now you talk about valve clearance? Come on man

Shouldn't have to bleed the brakes? YOU assemble the bike. It is part of why it is cheaper. Go buy a Honda in a crate(like you can), assemble it, and tell me its Honda's fault the brakes aren't bled.

It also weighs about 50 pounds more doesn't it? Having a mechanic prep it for you is smart so you can learn from a set up bike instead of one that is not set up.

Yeah I wish they were that price and didn't have timing chain issues that they are known for. My quadsport LTZ400 has the same issue and a manual tensioner is just my band aid for it for now.

I would buy almost any Japanese used 250cc bike at the same price point. Better reliability, better aftermarket and better overall value than the Hawk Deluxe 250cc.

I'm doubtful that these things actually meet fmvss standards. Always-on headlight has been required since the 70s. Also doubtful that it actually meets EPA noise standards.
