Hi mate I know it's not very nice but like you said it's nature and we all have to eat we had pylon wires round by were I live and could guarantee each race day would find birds dead and seriously injured hitting the wires I think fanciers would be surprised how many die each race day good channel looking forward to you racing 👍

If you can get some crows around, that's the trick I've had success with - super territorial, I feed them old dry cat food. They band up and drive the hawks off. Here in my region of the States we have several hawk species, the sharp-shinned being probably closest to the eurasian sparrowhawks, and they are small, quick and fast, you'll never see them coming. Good thing about the birds is they heal quick, and if you don't get too deep a puncture, a bit of hydrogen peroxide and some antibiotic ointment and she'll be flying in 3 days. Also, they learn that sitting around makes them dinner, bet she'll never get hit again :) good luck!

Hawks can be a damn nuisance. I always let my mine out early, also don't let them out everyday. Crows and Jackdaws also keep them away and get some wound spray from the Chemist, it will heal the birds wound quickly. As previous comment Hawks don't like reflective cd's.

Also pay attention to how songbirds around your area are behaving. The high pitch squealing call I hear during the first part of the video indicates the hawk is still in sight or at least still predicted to be nearby. You can hear its presence before seeing it.

Not a bad wound AT ALL. I've had my birds come back torn open so bad. From time to time their crops may be torn open, While healing when they drink the water, the water runs right back out of em. It happens so much that I don't even get upset anymore, at the same time I don't fly much anymore

You need them off the house roof as on the race day they will just sit up there and not come in and you need them to be more hungry than that

I had one of my birds come back with a big hole in her chest as if it barely escaped or the hawk wasn't very hungry see recovered

Thats terrible numbers, we have a problem in uk with them especially in the countryside, however the worst year ive had was only 10

This is the first real 'hit' I've had. They're protected here in the UK because there were so few of them in the 1980's.

I try to avoid it but it literally comes any time of the day. Luckily it hasn't bothered us since but it's always around, waiting.

I hate that feeling believe me when I let out I let out with lots of worries I can’t believe it with all the other street birds out there they have to pick the ones that we are flying where I live. There’s hundreds of street birds, bigger and healthier they will not do anything to those birds yet they see my birds and they want to do kamikaze‘s on them.
