While "Little Big Boy" took the longest to write, Hawk's song was by far the shortest. I wrote it in a fever on a really late night early 2021, and there were very few edits, mostly melodic and chordal along the way!

this is my favourite off the album hand in hand with Brother. i didnt love it a ton when i first heard it but then i listened a 2nd time and fell in love s hard its all thats been on repeat for days now. it hurts so bad. the contrast of the initial impression being upbeat and the lyrics being heart breaking, the gaslighting, just the whole way the song is written... its amazing. the "baby bird im glad that you quit your laughing its too loud that awful bubbly sound that used to happen when you were a child" OUCH WTF like how could anyone say that to a child?? the crushing of dreams and humanity out of a little kid to make him a soldier..... big ouch. i just really love this song and im a sucker for characters like hawks freaking incredible song

Yeah, I was originally gonna skip over it, but then I actually listened to the lyrics while scrolling through the comments instead of just the overall sound, and started sobbing :(
@alexan27172 жыл бұрын
"I saved you" The excuses a gaslighter will use in order to shape you into something they want, something ur not. Some believe the lies, some find a way out. Yeah so my mum "saved" us from our father, but I'm pretty sure she's just as abusive. But all her abuse is mental and emotional, he was physical, I think that's why it's taken me so long to figure out because I didn't realize it could be anything other than physical

This song is making me sob because it hits home harder than my mom- (Yes, I'm deflecting with humor. Shut up) On a serious note, I love this song. It really reminds me of my childhood. It reminds me of who I became because of the people in my life. Being told to "grow up" because crying is a "manipulation tactic". Being told this is all for me, so I can be strong. It hits so close to home. Anyways, another amazing song, as per usual. You're one of my favorite artists, Madds

don't mind me, just putting the full lyrics here to make singing along a bit easier. Oh baby bird, I'm glad you don't cry anymore Be brave One day you'll fly, you'll soar But don't forget where you come from The vultures that watch your back Oh baby bird, I'm glad that you quit your chirping That songbird shit was worthless And no one would've heard you hacking up a tune Screeching like a hawk in the sky Sharpen your talons and fight Claw at the world as it claws out your eyes We raised you right Hawk in the night Hawk in the night Oh baby bird, I'm glad you don't smile anymore It means you're strong The weak never have their wings unfurled You know your place At least you're not fighting for scraps Oh baby bird, I'm glad that you quit your laughing It's too loud That awful bubbly sound that would happen when you were a child Screeching like hawk in the sky Sharpen your talons and fight Claw at the world as it claws out your eyes We raised you right Hawk in the night Hawk in the night Oh baby bird, I'm glad you don't come 'round no more And when you do, there's fire in those eyes You talk about a friend Of a feather's sharpen end And plumes stuck in their side Oh baby bird, the nightingale can't soar like an eagle Its wings are much too fragile It's weak like its ego But us child, you and I We've got pride on our side Oh baby bird, the hunting birds can live their lives alone Who needs friends? A dead weight's all that other birds are made off So fight the world Screech like a hawk in the sky Sharpen your talons and fight Claw at the world as it claws out your eyes We raised you right Hawk in the night Hawk in the night Hawk in the night Hawk in the night

This song really resonates with me, I was raised by someone who made me supress all emotions because she would get annoyed by my way of expressing them and would demand grades no lower than 95 from me and make fun and yell at me for wanting to be an artist , the lyrics ''Baby bird, I'm glad you don't smile anymore'' almost made me cry. absolutely love your songs. been trying to convince myself to go to bed but have been replaying this song "just one more time" for wayyy too long now. i dont have any context at all for the characters these songs were made for nor the fandom but i dont need to, they're still absolutely beautiful and emotional without it. even after replaying this one a bunch of times in a row i still feel myself tearing up a bit while listening to it, just absolutely fantastic. so glad i found your channel and got to listen to all these. now i wanna learn how to play some of these songs now but im not yet good enough at music theory or anything that would go into figuring it out, one day though! (unless of course i manage to find a tutorial of some kind somewhere on the internet, or ask someone better at music to help out). for now i can always sing along though :)

Man, discovering this song right after Dogbird is a devastating pairing. Despite this song being older, when placed right after Dogbird, the verse of "I'm glad you quit your chirping, that song bird shit was worthless..." made me think the bird stayed and the dog got far more toxic. It quickly becomes more of a song about parental control (I think?) but for a minute there it was cool to see the dark parallels. Anyway, really great song, fantastic voice, thank you for sharing your work

I'm not sure what fandom this is from, (if anyone wants to enlighten me I'd be grateful)but it's beautiful, and sad. I love it!!!! Also, your voice is magnificent! You've earned a sub from me for sure! I also (without context) first mistook this for an abuser/abusive parents talking to the person who left them, and kind of revelling in all the ways they hurt or changed them. Anyway it's such a good song!!!!

I know this song is about your MHA boy, but i'd like it known this fits Kurosaki Shun from yu-gi-oh Arc V /SO/ well it hurts, and while i don't know his story quite as well i find myself associating Kite from Zexal as well. I'm sure there's even more who can handshake on this song, and i think that's part of what makes this collection so beautiful. This is to say, you did an EXCELLENT job, and i hope to see many amvs and animatics rise from this album. This one is an excellent example of how these songs are well-crafted and have a wider reach than just their base inspiration, and that relatability is the sign of a well-crafted story tune.
