Cool story about those submarines invented during the Civil War you brought up : •The submarine was invented by the South, not the Union/North as most would assume •For decades, people assumed submarines were invented by Germany during WW1 since they were the first nation the press documented as having in 1915, but history had to be rewritten when archaeologists uncovered a sunken sub off the coast of South Carolina in the late 20th century •The Confederacy used their submarines differently than we do today. Because the torpedo had not been invented yet, the Rebels used subs in stealth missions to sneak right beside enemy ships and sink them by drilling giant holes in them with an enormous corkscrew/drill bit mechanism they attached to the front of the subs. The objective was to sink Union ships by filling them with seawater, not bombing or dynamiting their hulls

Man it always amazes me the amount of thought that you put into each panel yet alone each issue.

It sounds like you almost overdosed or had an adverse reaction to a very large quantity of 2-aminoethanesulfonic acid aka Taurine (active ingredient in energy drinks). When someone's eyes click side to side it is almost always because their is an chemical imbalance of methionine in the brain. This imbalance can result in elevated levels of homocysteine, which is associated with blindness and neurological symptoms.

When I was in Haiti there was a an energy drink for sale called "Red Toro" It was in a 20oz bottle and was trying really hard to mimic Red Bulls color scheme. Silver and Blue. I saw it and thought " That is a huge energy drink, gotta try it. But one of the first things I was taught before going to Haiti was don't drink or eat anything unless our guide/pastor gives it to us. So I asked the Pastor to take a look at it for me. He picked it up read the label and started laughing. I was like what? He read the label to me. He put his finger on the label and read aloud as his finger went across the words... "Contains Sperm of Bull" Then he burst out laughing. "If you want to drink sperm of bull, go ahead" I declined. Maybe that was what was in the devil drink you drank lol

I really miss this style of art. It seems most of the modern books the pencils and inks take a back seat to the colours. Instead of using the inks to show shading, they just use computerized coloring to wash out pencils if the book was ever drawn on paper to start to where it has more of a CGI feel, than proper comic book art. I see a lot of critique about how bad comics are, and most of it is warranted but not too many seem to point out the flaws of how the modern art techniques totally ruin just what the art was always about. Maybe i am just too old and miss the 80's and 90's when most everything was done on paper.
@MakThaNife6 жыл бұрын
Dude, you nailed my sentiments exactly. I despise the computerized look of modern comics. I also miss the way comics used to be. It's like they have totally divorced the artistic elements from modern comics.

I miss comics when they were printed on cheap paper with 4 colors. Then again, I'm not sure if that type of printing/paper even exists anymore.

This channel is great, I'm drawing my first comic as I'm watching this. Been working as an artist in the game industry for many years and always wanted to draw my own comics so I just decided to bite the bullet and do it and your explanation of panel layout, background level of detail , etc is helping a lot. Cheers!

Hey Ethan, I'm a big fan of your works. I have been watching all your videos lately and you have inspired me to start practicing drawing once again. I was wondering if you were planning on doing a video on something like drawing bodies or perhaps just body parts? Your joker and Dawnbreaker batman drawing videos were very informational and I look forward to learning a lot more tips from you in future videos. Keep up the good work!

The page where Hakman takes off his helmet looks really, really similar to Joe Kubert's original work on the character (other than the body proportions since HM is now more muscular). Awesome job!

I remember reading that issue a while ago :) When you said you loved drawing Hawkman It came to my mind that you can usually tell if an artist enjoys a character. For isnstance I fell like Jim Lee had fun drawing Wolverine and Batman. Ethan, if you're reading this it would be great if you could say how it usually is with slight changes to the character design. In is issue Hawkman suddenly gets a little more armored up that usually. Was it your call or is it always rather specified by the writer?

Ya sure that wasn't drain cleaner? I drank some kind of Monster energy drink for a short time, I never really felt they did anything for me, but I do remember feeling "off" when drinking them and my teeth felt like they were melting, so I thought I probably should stop buying them. Some people have bad reactions to too much amino acids at one time,as I noticed that the type I was buying had a lot of several different amino acids.
