Charles Nungesser flying with one arm in a sling was not an exaggeration. He suffered many injuries during the war including a fractured skull, seven fractures of his jaw, a bullet wound in his mouth, both knees dislocated, a bullet wound in one ear, severe concussion, dislocated ankle and numerous other bumps and scraps. He ended the Great War with 43 enemy aircraft to his credit, making him the third-highest scoring French ace of the war, behind Georges Guynemer (54 victories) and Rene Fonck (75). He was killed in 1927 when he disappeared over the Atlantic Ocean attempting to be the first airman to fly between Paris and New York, two weeks before Charles Lindbergh achieved the feat.

Baron was man nobody messed with. He was a very honarable man. But he was a horse back soldier and the reason he became a pilot is because he lost a bet.

@@hankwilliamsfan1986i actually like how they showed the Red Baron here, he was a smart, often cold blooded tactician who openly sad he aims for the pilot, not the machine. His followers also mentioned that he was hard to approachable but his extreme professionalism made them respect him

As bad as it is to see Richthofen misrepresented it’s pretty surreal to see Goring as a functional well adjusted human being. Before he hit the needle I’ve read that Goring was sort of a cool guy albeit a bit of a brag.
@Goran-zc2qw5 ай бұрын
One historian describe a Goring with those words: Goring was normal man until 1922. Then he met Hitler and, sudenly, he become total maniac.

AA in ww1 was simply field artillery modified to fire flak shells vertically. while primitive it was still very dangerous but avoiding was easy for fighters while 2 seaters had to fly in straight lines for photos

I wonder why early aircraft were design as bi-plane and not a mono plane. Bi-plane are more draggy and slower. Birds wings are mono airfoil by nature...why designer didn't copy the birds wing design? I wonder how birds flew if their wings comes in 2 pairs...like the Bi-plane.
@captainpinky83074 жыл бұрын
they did. like at the Fokker plane in 1916. but the wings were too weak to throw them about. which is why the biplane was favored.
