Well done Ben. You played that so well. It is very precious for you to play old time fiddle. I hope you keep doing this until you are an old man..and then hand it all down so it never dies. Beautiful.

Ben could you please make a tutorial for this fiddle tune to show your finger placement and bow work? It would really be appreciated.

Great tune, nicely played! I remember the first time I heard Mac play it, and before him the Highwoods String Band. Meanwhile, I recently ran into videos by a Carnatic mandolin player from India who uses a solid-body electric 5-string tuned C-G-C-G-C -- same as A-D-A-D with the addition of a bass string, but a whole step lower to accommodate the other Indian instruments and put less tension on the mandolin neck. (There is also Carnatic violin music, going back to the 1800s. I haven't looked into the tunings. See Ganesh & Kumaresh Rajagopalan kzbin.info/www/bejne/g6vZXq1ugpijp6csi=jJx6pqIOTzjSVTqF )

Sounds similar to the tune called Happy Hollow. Nice playing!

I think Mr Traynham’s source source is probably Norm Edmonds, seeing as he seems to be the only guy who recorded this tune. I worked out a nice gospel tune of his called ‘Kingdom’s Coming’ in dead man’s tuning (DDAD) on the bagpipes of all things, but then I have too much time on my hands. Anyway, well played Ben, and keep ‘em coming!
