“Well, that’s over. That’s the first time in Forum history I’ve heard them BOO the anthem singer.” - Chick Hearn, Lakers broadcaster

Just sing the anthem the way it was written and meant be performed. … I love how she looked so proud of herself toward the end before she finished and the crowd started booing

That 42 straight FT record by Goodrich that Chick/Stu discussed between the 1st and 2nd Qtrs here wasn't broken until 1/19/06 at SAC by Kobe who continued onto the new record of 62 straight which was broken in the 81 pt game of all things. So Kobe now owns the record at 62 and it'll probably last as long as the 42. So it ran from as far back as the 70s to 2006. That one is pretty safe for awhile.

I remember this one, very exciting game. Always lots of fireworks when these two clubs played each other. Chick explained why they chose Worthy, ahead of Terry Cummings and Dominique. He was the better fit. Riley said they watched Worthy fly down the court on that NCAA team and realized he was one of the few players that could run ahead of Magic’s curious pace on the break. And they liked his Tar Heel pedigree.

17:32 and 17:58 - Big O would always grunt when he dunked. NPZ, I think we need an Orlando Woolridge grunt compilation. LOL.

AC Green was on the All-Grunt or All-Wailing team as well! The 2 years they had AC and Woodridge together in '89 and '90 were definitely filled with laughable grimacing every time those two went to the basket!

Have to admit that was the worst anthem I have ever heard. She sure was stretching out her 5 minutes, pathetic. The crowd had a right to boo her performance. RIP Chick Hearn, the goat.

I loved the Hawks back in the day, especially when Nique came aboard as he is one of my all-time favorite players. However, I remember in the mid to late 70's when the Hawks were far from good, but they had some nice players including guys like Dan Roundfield a super rebounder and defender with athleticism who was another underrated player and John Drew a natural scorer and a few others as they were building towards being a legit contender year in and year out in the mid 80's. TBS just came to our local cable and we were the home selected to be a test spot for the cable company so we had cable about a year before the rest of my hometown. They used to show the Braves and Hawks and I mean around 95 percent of the games. It was great. I remember names like Charlie Criss, Mike Glenn, Eddie Johnson, Kevin Willis and the aforementioned John Drew who I enjoyed watching but I think maybe drugs stopped him from reaching his potential. Even when they were only a .500 team it was great to see a team play every game and being from WV who did not have a pro team, many here, like across the U.S became fans of Atlanta teams because of the Superstation TBS!!!

@TiltBrook3 жыл бұрын
Trying to figure this one out, but maybe you will know the answer to this… I know it was sometime in the 88-89 season… But when did the name change from “The Forum“ to “Great Western Forum? Of course the sidelines and center court logos are the indicators. Do you know what the last game was that the court logos read as; “The Forum,” and the first game where the court logos read as; “Great Western Forum?” Thank you

All I know is it was straight downhill as soon as they changed that name and started playing "we love LA" 28 times a game.

Roseanne Barr's was hilarious at the time, but I don't wanna even consider that an honest attempt. The Padres had to be idiots to think she could sing that, so the outrage they had when she pulled that was BS. It was their fault for putting a nasty comedian with a notoriously obnoxious speaking voice out as a singer of the supposed solemn patriotic anthem. I cracked up watching it a few years ago after not having seen it since 90, but that was more at her audacity.
