Lightning lost this stanley cup because they beat the rangers and not the Islanders. 2004, 2020, and 2021 they beat the islanders on their way to the cup. in 2015 and 2022 they beat the Rangers on their way to losing in the final.

My big memory of the Canucks was their early 1st round exit against the Flames. Johnny Gaudreau in his rookie year was so dangerous with Sean Monahan. Calgary's Micheal Ferland was knocking Kevin Bieksa all over the ice. Canucks main core was almost mid 30s and most other main players were 28 or over. It was the start of a loooong run of losing for the Canucks - and it slowly became difficult having a positive outlook for our club. The Canucks' window of winning & possibly contending for a Stanley Cup officially closed with a painful "slam".

John Tavares was winning the Art Ross trophy until Jamie Benn got an assist on a Dallas goal with about 10 seconds left in the last game of the season. Tavares & Benn were tied in points at 86 but JT had the tie breaker with more goals, but that assist gave Benn 87 points. The Islander game was already over by that time because Dallas is one hour behind NY time. Another yuck-yuck at the expense of JT & the Islanders.

I know people point at the Hawks for the cap circumventing but I think the big difference between that and recent stuff with Tampa and Vegas is we saw the Kane injury during a game. Comapre that to Kucherov being announced as out all season or Stone being announced as unavailable without some type of evidence to viewers. Cap circumvention is still circumvention but to me I dont place the Kane injury in the same bucket as Kucherov or Stone

One thing that people conveniently forget about that Hawks team was the abuse of LTIR. They abused the fact that they still had cap space because Kane was on LTIR and their opponent in the SCF was one of few teams that looked to get rid of that loophole before the season started.

@knightradiant4990Ай бұрын
So you only started liking them after they got a generational talent? Okay
@Ebbs-ez2fsАй бұрын
Hawks fan here, totally agree with you just be prepared for the haters to come and say it’s not a dynasty😂 Despite in the modern NHL it’s significantly more difficult to good rosters together & create dynasty’s. - original 6 expansion (30+ teams) - salary cap added in 2004. - Blackhawks were the first franchise to get 3 cups with the same core, in the cap era - They were the first & the fastest team to 3 cups, in the modern / salary cap era The Chicago Blackhawks, with their three Stanley Cups won in six seasons from 2010 to 2015, rank as follows in terms of the speed of winning three championships in NHL history: 1. New York Islanders: 4 Cups in 6 years (1980-1983)(21 teams in league)(No cap) 2. Montreal Canadiens: 3 Cups in 5 years (1976-1980)(18 team league)(No Cap) 3. Chicago Blackhawks: 3 Cups in 6 years (2010-2015) (30) (Salary Cap) 4. Pittsburgh Penguins: 3 Cups in 8 years (2009-2017) (30)(Salary Cap) - Detroit Red Wings: 3 Cups in 6 years (1997, 1998, 2002)(21 teams)(no cap) - Edmonton Oilers: 3 Cups in 5 years (1984, 1985, 1987)(21 teams)(no cap) In essence, the Blackhawks are neck & neck with the Penguins for the fastest Dynasty’s of All-time & the FIRST to win three Cups in the modern era, as we know it. Yet we act as if the original dynasty’s are somehow worth more than “Modern-day Dynasty’s” its crazy. And yet there only 2 teams on that list that were able to do it with a salary cap and 30+ teams. 👏

Shannon on Chris Osgood: "Hall of Famer! Hall of Famer! Hall of Famer!" Shannon on Corey Crawford: "(crickets)" Crawford was a better goalie than Osgood... & yes, Osgood should be in the HOF. Crawford was basically the 2nd best goalie in his playing era, only behind Lundqvist. & before the "he played for an all-star team" argument, his advanced stats were only behind Lundqvist as well. if Osgood is in the HOF, Crawford is EASILY a HOF'er too... hell, Tom fucking Barrasso is a HOF'er, & he (mostly) fucking sucked, lol
