I hope that Iowa and Penn State are undefeated in 2009 going into the matchup (Penn State has a disgraceful OOC schedule, I want to barf when I look at it, dunno about Iowa), and I hope Penn State wins big for the huge revenge game. But I think this game is what saved Ferentz's career. As a Penn State fan, I hate to see us lose to Iowa, but I didn't want to see Ferentz get canned, so that takes a little bit of the sting out of that game. Good luck in the Outback, I'll be rooting for you.

Yeah, you guys have a lot of heart, and I was really impressed with your QB. Unfortunately, it seems PSU wasn't up to the challenge. It was obvious that we just simply choked. Clarks's throw that was intercepted late in the game, was a throw that Clark had made all season long!!! The pressure got to the guys.

Iowa has just as much talent as just about any other big ten team and as far as defense goes we are probably the most talented team in the Big Ten. Iowa is young though, with a promising but inexperienced quarterback under center. I think if we got replayed all the teams we lost to this season it would be a different story this time around. The offense is playing better and the defense is hungry. Watch out for the Hawks at the end of this season and next season! GO HAWKS!

Most Iowa fans are pretty classy. And by-the-way, Iowa has had two Big Ten championships in the last 6 years, a BCS bowl berth and 4 New Years Day bowls...so we've had our fair share of chances to practice winning with class ;-) Goodluck in the Rose Bowl.

Okay, I sort of agree with that. The better team doesn't always win because sometimes even the best teams can have a really bad day while their opponent could be having a good day. Also I thought the playcalling was bad enough that a cat in a litterbox could have drawn up something better. Combine those two and you get a huge upset. Good luck in your bowl, and it's a crying shame you're not ranked in the AP after that shellacking of Minnesota yesterday. I'll check the coaches and BCS later.

We always show up for bowls, but not always for road games. Look at our gameplan in Iowa, and you can see that it's not the Spread HD that we ran at home and racked up 35 halftime points on Oregon State. It wasn't that we couldn't beat Iowa, we just didn't because of a bad gameplan. Remember, in 1982, we lost on the road to an 8-4 Alabama before beating Georgia in the Sugar Bowl who had Herschell Walker. Every team has their weakness, and for us, it's road games except against cupcakes.

I see Penn State getting revenge next year (this game is circled on our list of top revenge games), but I know that Iowa is only 12 points away from a better season. I see you going 9-3 or better next year, but losing to Penn State (who I think will be really good next year). Unfortunately, they may lose to someone else. I just hope the 2008 PSU team isn't as forgotten as the phenomenal 1996 Buckeyes team is.

Here's what I think: As we saw against Michigan, Minnesota has pretty much imploded, while Michigan has gotten better. At Minnesota might be tough, but I think you guys can do it. And I think Northwestern loses both games at the end (I've been calling for that all along). I think Ohio State wins out to make a BCS bowl, and Iowa makes the Outback Bowl. In the preseason, I had Iowa picked going 10-2, and I was a couple points away from being right, I knew you'd be a tough team.

You're probably the most level headed person on these videos. I like that. You're a Penn State fan I assume? Well, Penn State played tough, but they just looked off, following their bye week. Same look the Hawkeyes had after our bye week when we lost to Illinois... Anyway, good luck in the Rose Bowl. I'm sure you guys won't make the same mistake of letting a team hang around.

Not just that, each of the 4 games ended on a late 4th quarter drive. Northwestern ended with us 8 yards away, unable to score in 4 plays. Michigan State ended with us around the 30, if I remember correctly, needing a 1st down for a better shot at a field goal...Pitt and Illinois both ended on interceptions, I think, on a late drive that would have won or tied the game...

@HereComeTheHawkeyes I hate to admit it, but that is true that Iowa plays good at Beaver Stadium, PSU is 4-7 against Iowa in Beaver Stadium but 7-4 in Kinnick all time. Another thing I hate to admit, I'm pessimistic as hell about PSU's chances in Kinnick this fall. I'm always at least a little optimistic about PSU except for 2003 (yes, even in 2004 I was), but this year I'd be thrilled just to see PSU make a bowl. I predict a three team race between Iowa, Wisconsin, and Ohio State.

Nope. The announcers never really commented one way or the other. The replay clearly showed Iowa recovering the ball in the endzone. Bad call. But, at least Iowa scored immediately after the punt. Go Hawks!

I didn't see Iowa overpowering Penn State at all, what I saw was terrible Penn State playcalling combined with what looked like overconfidence (Casey At The Bat style). I remember Penn State moving the ball with ease against Iowa, but calling bad red zone plays. Congrats to Iowa and their huge upset win, but you din't exactly smack us up and down the field all game long. This game did show that going undefeated in the Big Ten is tough because there are great underrated teams.

I never said you didn't win fair and square. It was simply one team showed up to play a football game, the other didn't. That's why Penn State didn't bother to make second half adjustments combined with bad playcalling. Bad playcalling in that in the first half they did move the ball easily (but made bad plays at the 1 yard line), then in the second half tried to get cute for "style points". But I agree, you guys are a good team. And good luck in your bowl game.

Next year iowa is going to be better than they are this year. Since shonn greene is probably going to go pro we still have hampton and hampton is a very good running back. Also we are only losing 16 seniors and many of our starters are coming back.

Has anyone ever noticed that like Minnesota, Iowa has always been a thorn in Penn State's side? It seems so many times that despite which team is better, Kirk Ferentz has outcoached Joe Paterno so many times. And save for anomolies last year's blowout, almost all of the games have been pretty close. This game played out almost exactly like last year's Oklahoma at Colorado game. Many compare this game to 1999 Minnesota, but I don't forsee Penn State collapsing. It'll end up more like in 2005.

Neither team played a perfect game, but I've noticed that the bye week all year has knocked off the mojo for most teams. I can't wait for the Rose Bowl, though. I just hope it's not against Oregon State. Our last Rose Bowl, in the 1994 season was at least against #6 Oregon (even if we did get denied a championship split with Nebraska). I really wanna see Penn State smack USC in the Rose Bowl and not Coastal Carolina West again. Good luck in your bowl game, though.

heres what sucks. the poll's are favorited way too damn much. If Iowa loses one game, they drop like 5-8 positions. But if USC or Florida loses once, they go down in the rankings about 1 or 2 spots.

Only lost to Mich State by 3. Greene got stuffed on 4th down. A 1st would have put us in field goal range, I think. I think we could beat Michigan State in a rematch. They're very similar to us. It was a double overtime game last year... Greene probably won't come back, but Hampton is pretty good. I doubt we'll go 10-2, looking at the ridiculous schedule we've picked up. Basically, other than Illinois, we're picking up the top half of the Big Ten...

I was at the game and I thought for sure that we had either recovered in the end zone or on the one. The refs said that the QB recovered it on the one yard line. Maybe he got a hand on it and pulled it under him at the one, then slid into the endzone...I really don't know...

I can see Iowa going 10-2 next year, but I think PSU will win the Big 10 next year. I expect Ohio State to be really down next year, they're replacing half the team, it won't be like when they just replaced a QB and RB in 2007, so no co-champs with OSU next year.

I think Iowa may actually be a better team than Michigan State, or about equal. Not sure if Iowa's a better team than Ohio State, but there's a good chance you're at least equals. Is Shonn Greene coming back for his senior year? If so, that might help Iowa go at least 10-2 next year and ranked no lower than #17 at year's end. I have this feeling, though, that Iowa finishes the year ranked #25 in at least one poll.

Did the announcers say why the fumble by Penn State at 0:44 wasn't ruled an iowa touchdown? I was at the game and after seeing it live, and on the replays I have no idea how that isn't a fumble recovery for a touchdown. It doesn't really matter though because Iowa ended up scoring like 2 plays later but I was just curious...

Penn State hasn't lost a game by more than 1 point all year, better than all of the teams you mentioned except Florida. I don't think PSU would get crushed by Florida or Oklahoma, those would be great games. Texas Tech, you gotta be kidding me. Oklahoma made them look like a junior high school team. Could have been worse if not for having the third stringers play. The Rose Bowl is gonna be a great game, the Outback Bowl will be a romp, Iowa should mop up SC no problem.

Yep, Penn State fan since birth. Seems like for a lot of top teams, the bye week, rather than a week of rest, is the kiss of death. I remember last year, Illinois beat Ohio State after their bye week. Thanks and good luck in your bowl (I'm assuming the Outback Bowl). I hope Iowa wins out and goes to the Outback Bowl and beats Georgia to lay to rest any "SEC superiority" talk. And Penn State will beat USC to shut up those Trojans fans for at least a couple years.

As a die-hard Penn State fan, I have to say, you guys played one hell of a good game. Now, do I think Iowa is better than PSU? Fuck no! But I do know that Iowa played better than PSU last Saturday, partly because PSU played fucking terrible! We just failed to get touchdowns instead of lousy field-goals, which then kept you in the game. But just watch, barring a complete collapse, PSU will still win-out, winning the Big 10 and going to the Rose Bowl. Congrats!
