I don't know anything about Hawkshead, but WOW, so much history there! Potter, Wordsworth! Id heard that Beatrix Potter lived in the Lake District but never knew where. Thanks for the walk-around Jon! Some stunning views.

Beatrix and William lived in several Cumbrian homes - BP bought Hill Top, the now National Trust owned house, but lived in a larger, white house across the road (It can be seen from the NT Shop)

Beatrix owned Hill Top nearby, but apparently lived in the larger White House opposite the National Trust entrance - William and Beatrix lived in many homes in Cumbria during their lives.

My favourite place on this planet. The countryside that surrounds it is like heaven to me! The village itself is superb. There is actually still a local community there and the pubs are great and well used. Love the place.

Yes, it's a world class location and wonderful little village.. love all the alley ways to explore and that it's mostly painted white.. Tarn Howes above is beautiful then down into Coniston 👌🥾

William Wordsworth lived at Allan Bank, also National Trust - another large white house, with great views of Grasmere Lake - obviously Dove Cottage is the more well known.

Is Dove cottage the yellow one?

@@relaxingwalks_uk The last time that I visited Dove Cottage, it was also White (2022) - on the opposite side of the main road to the Daffodil Hotel, right if driving north towards Keswick.
