Super stoked on the idea of getting Rodney Mullen on the podcast. Dudes a legend and seems to like Tony, I’m sure he can get him to tell some pretty great stories about the origins of his tricks. But you HAVE to let him go into the weeds; he pays so much attention to detail.

Nice. Best thing about Mondays by far :) Once upon a time in Dublin (1992/1993) I was at a Powell demo in a ballroom. The biggest ramp was an 8 foot quarter. At one point the crowd started chanting "twist, twist, twist". I thought what a load of idiots there's no way.....and then Tony tried one on the quarter. A couple of goes later he landed it :) I was hoping that was gonna be the story :)

That's so rad that he remembers, I cant imagine how many demos he has done, though that is pretty gnarly to do it on an 8ft quarter.

Tony and Jason have interviewing experience and skills; a surprise guest once in awhile or a recurring guest would be cool? Guys and Gals from other professions would be rad . Tony Hawk is cool by default and anyone would be hyped to chop it up with The Birdman! Mike Tyson would be fascinating. Individual pursuits , determination, etc..there are parallels there. You can bring up the video of Mike busting his ass on the hover board lol He would be fascinated to talk with you Tony, I just know it.

Hi, Jason + Tony, love the show :) My one suggestion for production would be to include some kind of effect when you're transitioning into and out of an ad to create some separation. I usually find it a little jarring to be taken out of the regular pod mid-story, but this episode I actually couldn't even tell when the first ad ended and when the story picked back up. Other than that, you guys are doing great! Of all the weekly shows I listen to, this is the one I look forward to the most!

The best example of a comic enjoying bombing is Bill Burr's Philadelphia rant - it's legendary. The crowd were making a habit of booing and making comics bomb and he saw a friend (and good comic) get so rattled he cut his set short, so Bill just went apeshit at the audience...

@carolynberge29193 жыл бұрын
I’m not trying to take away from your overall message, which I super support, but Jason REALLY strongly identifies as bisexual, not gay. The distinction is important to him, so it’d be great if you could remember that for the future. 😊❤️

@-Jess.-3 жыл бұрын
What's a 'non-American' rxn?
@carolynberge29193 жыл бұрын
@@-Jess.- Americans have a different relationship to guns than most of the he rest of the world. Whether you’re for them or against them, there is a different cultural norm.
@-Jess.-3 жыл бұрын
@@carolynberge2919 and when are citizens American? White, men's, red, blue, protestant, catholic, _quaker,_ omg. How about just green indigo? That's my country. In it, one day, it will be safe to give kids a juice box freed from heavy metals. not to be confused w/ the music genre, which is excellent. Particularly made so through contributions such as Drowning Pool's Bodies. Shot heard 'round the world indeed. So too very often it seems the cables have distorted this sound. Gun's nothing more than a table saw. It's a tool. I don't particularly care for them, but this is what they are. All weaponry is. Like our music, these tools have too been subjected to unintended use. I do not intend to communicate that you should go away. I can respect if you'd like me to go away from your thread. What are these different cultural norms?
@-Jess.-3 жыл бұрын
@@carolynberge2919 I just bet that Jason's got a few very succinct, and hilarious Aussie expressions to say what I've.
@carolynberge29193 жыл бұрын
@@-Jess.- In terms of the cultural norms? Depends on how old they are when they move here and whether they’ve chosen to consciously address and change them. The stuff we learn in our earliest years tends to stick at a subconscious level and often takes conscious work to change. From a legal, moral and ethical standpoint citizenship/being part of a different society is a conscious choice and a lot depends on how the immigrant in question views themself. Is Jason an Australian living in the States or is he an American who was born in Australia? Or some combination of the two? Only Jason can really answer that question. But in terms of his basic operating system programming, he is Australian by default and American by choice. It’s neither good nor bad, it just is. I’m Canadian, not American, so I have a different perspective, because we are more inclined to a mosaic viewpoint of immigration, not the melting pot. We tend to believe that multicultural variety in individual citizens strengthens us rather than expecting homogeneity. Canada has a negative population growth so our future and continued existence literally depends on immigrants and refugees. So, long ass answer that basically boils down to “it depends on what they think” 🤷🏻♀️
