As a Philadelphian it is my job to inform you that they are just cheesesteaks. If you have to call it a "Philly cheesesteak" it usually isn't. Chipped steak, and cheese on a long roll. Your choice of cheez wiz or American. Peppers, onions, mushrooms(yuck), bacon all at your discretion. It becomes a cheesesteak hoagie if/when you add tomato and lettuce.

I remember in 2008ish Tony doing demo at Burleigh Heads in Australia, after he finished skating he jumped into a van and went straight to McDonalds. Being mega fans my buddies and I followed him. I walked in and stood next to him at the counter whilst he was ordering. In my completely star struck state I was swiping my card to pay before I even placed my order...the girl taking my order was so confused by me and had absolutely no idea who Tony was. Such a real dude and was happy to get a picture with me.

I don't want to be the morbid "tell us about the slams!" guy, but I've always been wanted to hear Jason and Tony talk about the Jake Brown slam. It was such an intense moment in the sport and it's impossible not to have strong feelings about it, even just watching it. I always appreciate hearing what other big air skaters have to say about those moments. Jake was still putting out parts for Blind a few years ago and that first air back was so emotional. Thanks for the amazing content! Legends sharing their experience will never cease to delight! (Side question: Tony, have you ever skated to Gupi's music? It's really good action sports music! I'd love to hear more in depth about your thoughts on the hyperpop scene, if you have any insight to share.)

Anyway, its no loss, but I do think it would be great to see you on one of Louis's shows, they will DEFINATELY make fun of you, but no more than they do themselves.. Please beat Louis, its getting old hearing about him being the "reigning Ellis-mania champion".. Love the Ellis show, Love this pod, you guys start my every monday off right!!

Not to be a stickler but Pats Steaks is better than Geno's.... Geno's is lazy and just folds two pieces of flank steak on a roll as opposed to every other place that chops up the steak and then melts the cheese into it to hold it all together. But nearly every small neighborhood corner cheese steak restaurant in Philly and South Jersey beats the hell out of them both.

Awe man its always a bit disheartening to see how sensitive Jason is and that he takes things like teasing so hard cuz I'm pretty sure the podcast he was talking about was Legion of Skanks and they can make harsh jokes and whatnot but its mostly all teasing and nothing hurtful would be meant by it if they were to make gay jokes when he was there. They make fun of all of the qualities of everyone, so being a little gay is just a part of jason, so thats one of the things they're gonna joke about but its not meant to be malicious. I do understand though that hearing a lot of intentionally malicious anti gay jokes in the past would make it hard to not take comedians teasing to heart, even if they didnt mean him to. I just wish i could get through to him that like there is a difference between friendly teasing about eachothers differences, and mean things meant to hurt feelings. And maybe he realises that, but can't help but feel hurt anyway. No matter what, most people I've heard talk about jason actually really like him, even if he doesnt think so.
@ParappatheRapper2 жыл бұрын
Speaking as someone who is also gay (not even fully but im bisexual), it's just annoying when that's people's go to and you're known for that in particular. Not that there's anything wrong with being gay, but that's the thing right? Being gay isn't wrong, it's pretty common now, but you're special for that? Doesn't really add up. It also takes away from your other more important accomplishments and things going on in your life. I get that the gay thing is more juicy for listeners than if he talked about Podcasting and Skating, MMA, etc, so I also understand the other side of it. I can't speak for Mr. Ellis because I don't know him personally but the above is why I find it annoying. There's so much more to me than being sexually attracted to some guys. In fact the gay part about me is one of the least interesting parts because it can be summed up pretty quickly as, "yeah i like some guys." Anyway, you probably never asked for that explanation but I think it's worth noting if just to make you understand that Jason is past being embarrassed or really hurt over being gay in particular, but it seems like he's just tired of hearing it and doesn't want it to be all that he is to people. He says he does it for younger people, or even older people, who also struggle against a society that is just beginning to sort of accept it openly. I'm also an advocate for free comedy. I think you can joke about everything, or you can't joke about anything. There are jokes I wouldn't personally make, but I would never stop others from making them if they choose to. Making fun of Jason for being gay, in good conscience and in an un-harmful jesting fashion, is fine. Specifically bringing him in because he's some kind of set piece freak show to show off to the listeners... well that's a little less cool. I don't know these Legion of Skanks people but going by their name they sound pretty open minded and wouldn't commit the latter. But I think Jason passed just in case it was, cause I'd feel the same way in his shoes.
