Harvey Bainbridge's narration sequence was an inspired piece of psychedelic ad-lib vocal wizardry. Magnificent all round performance from the Space Rock Masters.

Does anyone see the likeness between Harvey Bainbridge & a windswept James May (Top Gear presenter) in this clip or is it just me?

Hmmm, it's about time we had some Hawkwind on KZbin. Most of the world's big rock bands are well-represented here, but (apart from TOTP 72) it's left to TLT and Nik Turner to fill the gap left by the lack of HW. This Utopia reminds me of Sonic Attack in places :)

Never played a song the same twice. I believe they've had about 70 members in their history. Whatever they are they are the real deal at it.

Damn, I missed that clip! I check out YT several times a week and I know HW management can be quick to spot things, but that's unusually swift, isn't it?

Yes, people sometimes post the Marc Bolan 1977 TV show footage of QSC and it soon vanishes again, often with the user account suspended. Moral of the story is: if you see something good, download it (check my profile page for info on how to do this).

wish someone would upload all the solo stuff some of the guys went on to do, my friend had a great album which was just all their solo stuff, tracks by alan davey etc, it wasn't the Friends and Relations album either, wish I knew the name of it even had Michael Moorecock tracks on it above and beyond the New Worlds Fair stuff
@DokktorDeth15 жыл бұрын
To understand Hawkwind, you have to understand Michael Moorcock. Read the Jewel in the Skull & the Elric books to start with. Revelations!

Yes Hawklord, my clip was removed within 24 hours ! I have no idea why. Perhaps HW management were keeping a closer eye than normal on here whilst HW are actually touring. Or maybe there are copyright issues with them performing "Motorhead" I have no idea but I'm seeing Motorhead live twice next week... will try & film some at one of the gigs & upload it here ! :D

When I watch this, I skip to 1:55, watch to :4:00, skip to 9:00, and enjoy the rest. If I could take Hawkwind and crunch these long-ass pointless songs down to the 3 minutes that's actually a great rock song, I would likely love them. But when 70% of each song is just LSD-induced guck, it's a curiosity at best.
