@@nomadbrad6391I’m not American, but what I understand from what Senators and other members of congress do is to Firstly, expose the workings of the current administration to the voters so that the voters can see for themselves what the people they appointed are doing. This should allow them to make better decisions in the next voting cycle. Secondly, they are to expose the corruption, potential crimes being committed and laws being broken by these people so that the DOJ can decide whether to consider prosecution or not. Congressmen don’t have powers of prosecution. Thirdly, Senators and members of congress pass laws that deal with the issues they highlight and raise in these meetings. This is the most important part of their jobs to me…but they don’t have authority to enforce these laws. It is up to other institutions and government departments to enforce these laws. So these hearings shows to these departments that these laws are likely being broken. So Senator Hawley is effectively showing you the voters what is wrong, showing the government departments what is wrong and will consider reversing current laws in place in order to stop some of these things. This is what the Senator is doing that “sticks up” for farmers.

It is ridiculous that we have so many government employees that are in bed with major investment firms, then make millions on their "hunches (Insider Trading.)" Meanwhile, there are single people whom cannot afford an apartment and eat, because of this exact thing. Edit: It is all market manipulation by those who set the rules. @@redrustler1 BY what legal AUTHORITY do you cite that Senator Hawley can "close down" ERIC BEIGHTEL's department. Hawley is a U.S. SENATOR, laws that affect the State of MIssouri must be legislated at the STATE level. If there are any laws at the FEDERAL/U.S. Government level being violated, then there is a way that U.S. Senator Hawley can find ways to address it. You can bet, by the tone of his questioning of Beightel, that Senator Hawley will be checking to see what he CAN do and get the ball the rolling on it as he truly cares about the Farmers in his state and the fact that the People of Missouri are not receiving any benefit from that 500+miles high voltage transmission line dividing their state.
@redrustler122 күн бұрын
@@staralioflundnv It still amazes me that people watch these videos, and have not a clue what they watched. And think they do know. This project was approved at the FEDERAL level. There is a FEDERAL statute which sets forth criteria for approval. The reason there is a FEDERAL statute on projects such as this is because the project crosses multiple state boundaries, and therefore involve multiple states. One state cannot effectively outlaw a project which another state approves, and which may benefit people in another state, or the country as a whole. This is called 'interstate commerce,' which, according to the Constitution, a word you probably like to use despite the fact that you've probably not actually read the document, is within Congress' bailiwick. If you understood the video, you'd know that the witness is essentially telling Hawley that the FEDERAL statute requires the witness to check boxes, and if those boxes are checked, then the FEDERAL statute requires him to approve the project. Now, follow me here. Hawley admits he does not know the FEDERAL statute. Why does a FEDERAL Senator not know the FEDERAL statute at issue? Why does he not know the FEDERAL statute which is effecting his precious constituents? Hawley reminds me of the cop in Vacation who asks Chevy Chase if he knows the penalties in that state for animal cruelty, and when Chase admits he does not, the cop replies "Well, it is probably pretty stiff." Except this is not a joke. Who passes FEDERAL statutes? Answer for those who failed to complete grade school: The Congress. Which means that Hawley could draft and introduce legislation changing the FEDERAL statute to benefit his constituents if he was so inclined. He obviously would rather grandstand on the issue rather than do the real work of attempting to change the law. Apparently, the cheer leaders around here are satisfied with grandstanding. Remember the Keystone Pipeline? It was killed at the FEDERAL level. Not the state level. The irony you obviously missed is that Hawley and his equally brain dead colleagues constantly rail against civil servants who don't follow the law, but rather do their own thing. Here we have a civil servant who follows the letter of the law, and Hawley whines like a little girl (he runs like one, so I guess he is being consistent) about a civil servant who follows the letter of the law. So, yea, Hawley is all show.
