People used to deal with their personal issues privately and in therapy but now SCHOOLS train people to make all their identity issues amplified and public and an interpersonal social issue. I have seen this in Uni they train everybody to complain about their personal identity. It is clearly damaging to individuals and even not good for the military. Look at the count of comments 200+ I can only see about 14 of them.

So let me get this straight: An instructor yelling in your face that you're a maggot and ain't worth crap while you're giving him 120 pushups is acceptable. Showing highest levels of discipline and obeying every word they say isn't an issue, but calling you a woman/man is crossing the line... and yet the same people are pushing the US army into every possible battlefield they create themselves

@@spruceandhemlock LOL, as a U.S. Army retiree, I support the use of "maggot" as a pronoun. Actually, it's pretty mild compared to what they were using at Fort Benning in '91. And even then I had to struggle to keep the straight/fearful face (Even while more focused on not laughing) while the Drill Sergeant tore into us for no reason other than it was his (Am I supposed to call him a "maggot" now, or say "they" in place of "his?" So confusing) job to weed out the Twinks.

It's laughable that a guy with no combat experience whatsoever can give orders to veterans. You shouldn't be able to become any kind of officer without years of experience under your belt. They certainly shouldn't be politically appointed or given away to the pathetic scions of prominent families. A military run by politicians is a recipe for recurring failure as well rampant corruption, nepotism and cronyism. Just look at the conflicts the U.S. military has participated kind over the last few decades... the vast majority were virtually manufactured for the express purpose of profiteering, and needless to say, the companies that profited most substantially were those with the strongest political connections. That kind of nonsense has to stop. Young men are suffering and dying fighting rich coward's wars, it's beyond disgraceful, it's absolutely despicable.

"The army takes the care & quality of life of all our service members & their families very seriously" ...direct quote! ... Then why are there so many service members (ex & current) with serious disabilities & mental health problems, caused by things that have happened to them while serving, hat are now living on the streets, that are addicts/alcoholics (due to self medicating) & so so many of these selfless service members, that take their own lives, trying to stop the pain they feel, both physically & mentally. They end up have crippling healthcare fees & long wait times, for any operations they might need to help fix an injury, or for the physiotherapy they might need, or the psychology & psychiatry therapies they need. I understand that in UK we have our NHS & in the US, there is the V.A., but these services are so overwhelmed, here are enormous backlogs. In the US, it can take 2+yrs to get a decision on a claim for disability or help of any kind. How would those 'in power' feel, if they had to wait for a decision, to see whether are not they are eligible for help, FROM THEIR EMPLOYERS, to get those prosthetic limbs & the physio to help them use the prosthetics and/or gain the ability to walk again, after they had their limbs blown off by a landine, whilst they were on duty, serving the army & country, to help keep it safe! I bet they dont have to wait any length of time, to even have a tooth filled! Also HOW can u justify that around 30% of veterans claims for this help are DENIED?! If someone has been posted to 'the frontlines' & more than likely completed multiple tours of duty, how can you deny them help?! All service members, in all types of the military, that have been to a warfront, will AT LEAST need some form of mental health care, regardless of any physical issues they have! There needs to be more done for all service members, all veterans, to make sure they get whatever they need. That help needs to be lined up & in place, BEFORE they are discharged from duty. That way, no one falls through the cracks or gets lost in the system. These selfless souls have sacrificed their very own wellbeing & lives, to help complete strangers to be safe from attacks by foreign forces, they MORE THAN deserve our respect & given the dignity to hold their heads up & feel useful to society & their own communities! Its disgusting & disgraceful! I'm not just talking about US military, I'm talking about all militaries, right across the world! No, im not an ex-service member either, I'm just a person that feels it should be a normal, everyday thing to treat everyone around us, with dignity, respect & empathy. Veterans across the world, are not given the respect, nor treated with the dignity, they so truly deserve!

Is anyone else tired of watching a Senator in a Hearing, ask a direct question that can only be answered directly, but get a response that never touches the actual question as they tap dance around it? What's the point? I suspect if any one of us ever ends up in court, subject to examination, we would never be allowed to dodge a question in the same manner. It's mind boggling and disgusting.

I don't understand it either. I was told directly to my face that the Army, Navy and Air Force did not accept those homes because they were that condemned. The other branches did not allow their Enlisted, but the Marines accepted them because they were up to our standards for living. From day 1, I was sick the entire time I lived in those homes. The homes were falling apart and had mold throughout the entire house. When I asked for a better barracks room I was laughed at by the Army and told that as a Marine, I should just accept it. The week I moved out, I was no longer sick. The brass in the Military DO NOT CARE AT ALL ABOUT THE LIVING CONDITIONS FLR ENLISTED. They never have and never will.

Whether we're military personnel living in substandard base housing or regular civilians struggling with escalating inflation and stagnant wages, or communities dealing with massive influxes of illegal immigrants, the time for "finding" solutions has long past, we need action today, right now to start addressing these problems.

Then the poor marines, their barracks had raw sewage dripping from the ceiling, but those guys didn't say shit about it. But I can tell you, across the Army, like 80% of the barracks were 70 years or older. Hell at Ft. Bliss, I was staying in the same barracks that WW2 folks lived in. But it was improving bit by bit.

The US Air Force Academy is under fire for holding diversity and inclusion training that urges cadets to use non-gendered language, scrapping words like 'mom,' and 'dad', as well as 'girlfriend' and 'boyfriend.' 'As part of the Diversity & Inclusion Cadet Leadership Program, this conversation was developed by cadet leaders and USAFA staff to introduce all cadets to Department of the Air Force definitions of diversity and inclusion, as well as how these concepts enhance our warfighting effectiveness,' the spokesperson said. If this isn't official Air Force policy why are so many commands pushing this garbage?

So let me get this straight. Allegedly, our education system is held accountable for everything down to a kid missing one of their berets in their hair from playing outside at recess. And yet, it seems that our Armed Service is held with ZERO accountability when it comes to living conditions. If my boss is like "So when will this plan be in action?" I have to give them a legit time frame within that ONE year. I would have been fired right on spot if a decade went by and nothing had change.

Do you know what the Military Housing Privatization Initiative is? It was an effort that Congress approved in 1990 to leverage public funding to reduce taxpayer costs and improve housing for military service members. This, effectively, ended the DoD's involvement in the continued improvement and upkeep of military housing and turned that responsibility over to a non-government affiliated company, a contractor, that the Federal Government pays AND that collects the BAH of military service members. How this functionally works is that instead of calling your base maintenance support, you would call your company's maintenance and they would be the ones to handle it. They are also the ones responsible for updating and maintaining living facilities, they aren't. This is because the company charged with maintaining housing is the same company that has the goal of making money, not providing the best possible housing to service members. Why aren't apartments updated all the time? Why are apartments allowed to have 30 year old appliances? Because people HAVE to have a place to live and they are the lowest bidder. Same thing applies here. A family where the E-4 has a wife and three kids, that wife probably can't work and if she can it's probably not going to offset the cost of living sufficiently for 3 kids, so they go with their best option. Give the E-4's BAH to the company, and get a house big enough for the family. What it boils down to is this. Congress said "let a private company manage military family housing" so they did. The private company mismanaged it, didn't keep houses up to date, fastforward 30 years and you have rich companies and the same housing you had 30 years ago. This is not the DoD's problem to fix, this is Congress's problem to fix.

@@dan-lr4zm why does the private contactor need to be hand held? I thought private companies and capitalism were just SO much more efficient and capable of elevating standards that it was better for the government to have them do it. If you're bringing in the company just to then turn around and have to hold their hand, you're not really saving yourself very much, especially when you're paying this company AND they're receiving direct payments from service members as well.
@GeorgeNolte
@GeorgeNolte Жыл бұрын
@@CGD777 why does the contract element need to be managed? The point of the initiative was so that the government could be hands off and let the company operate to elevate the standard of living. Why should the DoD have to put in effort to get the company to do what the company said they would do. Also, tell me how well forcing companies to do things has historically worked for the DoD? Like, when has it been better for the DoD to force a company to do something as opposed to doing it through their existing channels?
