If you stack your roof panels you can pre drill your screw holes. Drill through the whole stack. Huge time saver. Then you don’t need a story stick and the screws don’t have to drill. They can just screw. Learned that trick from my Amish crew. Smart builders they are. 😀

But it's not flawless. As here where he did not level and built over an undulating "hilly" landscape. In those cases a few prefilled stack holes will miss wood and be "hole" only. But certainly smarter and a timesaver! Thanks for the tip.

I have to say, I love that every step is shown, and not just glossed over in some voiced-over edit. Processes are explained, pieces are announced, and reasons given. Instead of using jargon we the audience know you have access to, you use plain speech to make sure we understand, or if jargon is used, immediately follow up with the definition. Thank you for the entertainment, and it is wonderful that your family gets to take part in the projects as well, whether hands on, filming, or entertainment for you. I was taught the 3,4,5 rule for square. Once your strings are laid out, measure 3' from corner or intersection of one string. Then measure 4' from corner and intersection of the opposite string. Now measure between the 3' and 4' marks and if it is truly square it will always equal 5'. When it doesnt just move one string until those two marks meet at 5' . then once one corner is square you just continue off that true corner only moving strings that have not been squared using 3,4,5 until you end back at your first true squared corner. Works well any size square and doing it by yourself. Anyone can easily measure 3 feet, 4 feet and 5 feet. And it is really easy to remember and you always have this tool or method with you! And I'm not a carpenter but an electrician originally; but found this knowledge "priceless"! Lol😂

Love your videos and this fence idea! I read through the comments and didn't see this mentioned yet. I just wanted to mention that i noticed the overlap on the steel panels is backwards (not that it matters on this fence). The side of the panel that has the tiny flange should lay flat, and the other end that looks half finished lays on top of that. As you work down from where you started, this flanged end gives rigidity and strength for the half finished end. When the half finished end overlaps, it pushes tightly against the ridge it covers, creating a seamless look.

Just a tip for the screw template: make little hooks on both ends. The top end is holding the template, the bottom (max 1 inch wide) is holding the sheet metal so you can work freely with two hands.

@trailerparkcryptoking5213 they are called PostMaster posts by Master Halco. You can rent pounders at a lot of rental places but the posts require a special adapter to drive they most likely will not have. Many fence companies are driving posts so they may drive them for you.

I put in round steel posts like you would use for a commercial fence and put up a wooden gate on Cattle panels, building a 6' x 12" gate. I used Hook straps and hung 2/4's and pickets right on the panels. Each panel was about $90. Big savings and has withstood some hefty winds.

Speaking of home depot. I had some bowed walls I was replacing drywall on and my thought was to grab some bowed 2x4s from the delivery I had received a few days ago and and sister them in with the bowed going the opposite way so it pulls the wall straight. But to my disappointment, they were all straight for once.

I've always thought using corrugated or roof panels wood make a practically life long fence with steel post and stained horizontal. Glad to see someone do so. Unfortunately those steel post's are Dmed expensive, but they are easy and they work. This summer I rebuilt an RV gate, 14ft wide using stained (weather treatment for longevity) and the red plastic(?) roofing from Home Depot. Looks great, it's 200 pounds liter than using redwood and has already survived 35 mph wind here in Cal. Also wrapped a small shed in the green stuff, blends right in with the trees.

@@HAXMAN Just shared the video with one of the "look like crap" guys. He changed his mind! Since the cabin has two-tone metal siding, the plan is to do the fence the same way, so it looks more like an extension of the cabin. Of course, that could change. Plans keep doing that! 🤣

Hey! A divining rod! So long ago, the guy who drilled our well used 3 different kinds of divining rods to locate where to drill. One was a fruit tree branch shaped like a Y - we used apple. Then he had a pair of nylon rods tied together at one end with nylon fishing line. And the last he used was the metal rods like you had. Pretty cool how they all worked to locate water.
