Hey Pete, bought a few Dexters last year after watching your videos. Cow calved on the hillside in March, poor little guy came out landed on the ground and slid right over the edge onto the fire road 6 ft below. After a successful recovery operation momma and baby were reunited. We named him “Cliff”.

I just realized one bonus benefit from watching your videos. This morning, it was one of these days when everything seems to be going wrong. I woke up on the wrong side of the bed as they say, and everything seems to set me off. Then I sat down for my sunday morning coffee and breakfast and watched this video. And that was that. Watching you and Hillary going about doing your chores, the serene rythm of farm life, and just your calm positive comments on your everyday stuff calmed me down. Better than camomille and a ASMR video combined. This is the best. Thank you Just a Few Acres Farm!

I've got to believe that the farmer that drove by on the big John Deere was just a little envious looking at a true classic doing what it does best. I love those old Farmall tractors, my Grandfather had an old Farmall H and a baler with it's own engine running it to bale hay. What great times. Now the house, milkhouse and barn are gone, leaves an empty feeling inside every time I drive by but some of my fondness memories

Hi Pete! An added benefit for using the older self powered farm equipment for people who have one tractor is if the tractor is broken a pickup truck or a vehicle of some kind, as long as the vehicle can pull whatever you using can be used. We used a 4 wheeler to pull an old horse drawn sickle mower and an old trip rake one time. Worked well.

I grew up in a small farming community, just two elementary schools, one high school, and maybe 10 000 people. Lots of the farmers in the area had been 6-7 generations on the same land and had LOTS of old machinery they still used. Seeing similar machines on here is a treat. I do love them so much. The new big machines feel too corporate and impersonal. And it really doesn't help that you can't really tinker with them the way you can with the old machines. A farmer is 30% mechanic, after all. I always say a farmer is 30% mechanic, 30% plant grower/animal tender, 30% business man, and 10% miracle worker.

It also doesn't hurt by bailing a small field starting off, allowing any problems showing up. Your philosophy with the hay tedder is logical, I when shopping will get a cart. By taking the shopping cart, I won't likely find anything to purchase and I can also give the cart to someone else, saving their day.
