I had to give you the thumbs up when you said you love to listen to the older generation, I fear that's what has been lost on a LOT of people today, they just don't realize the knowledge you can get from the people that have been through it already, they like to think they know it all, you need to learn something every day or your going backwards. You got a good head on your shoulders Hayden😁

@@HaydenOnHarvest My stepfather (now passed away) told me stories of going out West in the late 1940's to help with the harvest. My grandfather told me that he'd sooner have my grandmother on a wagon of loose hay (before bales) than most of the men he'd hired ... I'm with you on this.

Oh Hayden, my heart breaks for the farmers and the crews affected by the hail storm. To see a years worth of work destroyed in a matter of minutes is heartbreaking. 4G is a great team-oriented bunch. My heart goes out to the farmers & yes it’s bad you watch all the corn or wheat grow for a long time and pretty much a few days before harvest it gets destroyed . With the vehicles it is an other story . It can be fixed , but usually one gets a run around from insurance companies . As always a well made video

Hate to see that; my grandparents farmed in NE Montana for decades. I can remember a year in the late 80s that their wheat was looking particularly good until a wind driven hail storm pounded it so badly there wasn't even stubble left. Weeks of work, high hopes, and your livelihood torn up in a matter of minutes and not a thing you can do about it.

Mother Nature is a cruel old gal sometimes. I had a drip irrigated field of cotton one year that I had the stripper sitting on the turn row ready to roll the next day. Easy 3 bale cotton. And it was gone. Destroyed the cab, bent the fire out of the fins on the chute going into the burr extractor. Flipped two pivots. I’ve had sections of 4-5 leaf cotton get obliterated. It’s part of it! You made me feel old when you said you grew up on a 8330! I grew up on a 4440 pulling 18 row sand fighter. First new tractor I bought was an 8410!

The harvest crew I was on back in 89, our boss would make us wash everything when it would rain before we moved to a new state. The last field we could we’d have all our dives open wide and we’d run everything at max speed down the road to blow out the inside as best we could. We didn’t have a nifty leaf blower. As we were pulling into our stop in Kemble Nebraska the thunderstorm that came through that area was so awesome looking but the next day the awesomeness went away. The width this storm came through looked like miles. It look like the hand of God had just come over and smooth all the wheat flat. when it isn’t even your property or your livelihood and it still crushes the soul from you seen the fields destroyed like that will bring a grown man to tears. Have y’all ever calculated how much time your header spends out of the wheat when turning versus going around the field and cleaning up the end rows when done. IIt just seems like a lot of time on the engine and separators that doesn’t need to be ran up. Have you guys ever ran your machines yourself for the day versus when you have it running in auto steer? Would there be any difference on the amount of acres you could do? Or do you remember how to run a machine without auto steer and header controls ? Lol just joking, I’d fall asleep.

I hate to hear that for the farmer. Hopefully he had insurance. I'm sure my dad got hailed out a few times in the 70 years he farmed. Plus you lost out on cutting the wheat. Hail is so destructive. Thankfully you didn't get more damage to your equipment. Some hail they in the texas panhandle the other day was 7.5 inches across. You wouldn't have any equipment left after that. I'm tired of storms, wr have them almost every day/night.

It's hard to stand by and watch your crop be destroyed in minutes. You have poured you heart and soul into growing it and then just have to stand there and watch it be destroyed in minutes. MOTHER NATURE can be cruel at times, but it is what it is. You take that chance every year. This not only hurts the farmer but also effects many other around the area, like merchants in town, harvesters, grain elevators and so on - there are so many.
