I am learning this with Dr. Reed for my junior recital. I remember you came and played a recital featuring the Chopin Études at Lipscomb University, and I'm very glad to see you made a tutorial for this sonata. Thank you!

Brilliant tutorial: I enjoyed this very much and learned much from your thoughtful and insightful analysis. Just one point of which to be aware; the US is the only part of the English-speaking world using the mathematical (German) system of notation which makes your talk very difficult to understand in parts. Perhaps when you mention quarter, eighth or sixteenth notes, you might occasionally say ‘sixteenth note or semiquaver’ for example which would also be helpful in other languages like Italian, French and Spanish also do not use the mathematical system. PS: Any Beethoven sonata *except Opus 49* which should not be included anyway: Beethoven wrote 30 sonatas (not 32), and Opus 49 along with WoO 47 should both be relegated to an Appendix.

Great tutorial! I have a question regarding the notes of one section, bar 32, where the right hand notes repeat the pattern "C-Db-Eb-Db etc.". It is done differently in some scores and recordings, such as those by Horowitz and W. Backhaus; it begins right away with the D natural. C-D-Eb-D, and both of these versions are interesting. Be curious to hear your thoughts about this.

Yes, I am aware of these two different versions. I think on the Urtext version, there are footnotes saying that one is from the first edition.. I guess in cases like this, you can choose to play whichever note you prefer
