A really useful playlist, but having written it out incorrectly about fifty times, I should point out that the composers’s name is *Joseph Haydn.* Adding the baptismal ‘Franz’ is as redundant as writing out Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgang Theophilus Mozart; baptismal names were *never* used during either composers’ lifetime, and in neither case should they be used today.

Haydn’s music is *not* balanced in sense that Mozart’s music may be so described; Haydn often defies expectations - and like Beethoven later - is often less comfortable than Mozart.

@@kennethbridgford9592 Not in the sense you mean, but to suggest Haydn’s music - Beethoven’s as well - has the perfect poise and balance of Mozart is nonsense, and it was a deliberate ploy on the part of Haydn and Beethoven to be disruptive; Mozart did things differently.

Einfach wunderbar!

I checked the timestamp and I liked how you added "Miracle" for symphony no. 102 instead of the usual no. 97 since that "miracle" actually happened after the premiere of no. 102
@elaineblackhurst1509 Жыл бұрын
The story of the falling chandelier just after part of the audience at the King’s Theatre, Haymarket, London on 2 February 1794 had moved forward to get a better look at Haydn is well known; because no one was injured, there were shouts of ‘miracle, miracle!’ For some reason which for which I’ve never found a satisfactory answer, the story and the ‘Miracle’ nickname soon after became attached erroneously to Symphony 96 of 1791, rather than to Symphony 102 which has no nickname, but is actually the true ‘Miracle’ symphony. Nobody has been able to un-attach the nickname from 96, and to try would probably just cause confusion; so in short, the ‘Miracle’ nickname is attached to the wrong symphony - 96 it is, but 102 it should be.
32:56 Symphony no. 94 Movement 2 Description: A ticking time bomb that explodes when it hits 33:29.

I always look at these 12 masterpieces as a important bridging between the late Mozart and early Beethoven.
@elaineblackhurst15093 жыл бұрын
Could I suggest that Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven are pretty much complete unto themselves, and none is a ‘bridge’ from anyone to anywhere. Mozart and Haydn perfected the Classical symphony; Beethoven - from Symphony 1 - is clearly setting off down a new, post-Classical path. The other problem with Haydn as the bridge from Mozart to Beethoven, is that many of Beethoven’s fundamental compositional techniques such as thematic development, and building large scale musical structures from small motives, are almost entirely Haydn; they owe very little to Mozart who did things differently.
@clavichord3 жыл бұрын
Well, Haydn's late symphonies greatly impressed and profoundly influenced the young Ludwig van Beethoven. WA Mozart was far less influential in the development of the symphony and string quartet than Haydn, in my honest opinion.
@MyNewEra20122 жыл бұрын
Actually, if there would be any bridge amongst the three of them, it would have been Mozart. Haydn (also called "Papa Haydn" since he "fathered" a couple of music formats typical for classicism) is the early classicism, Mozart is the purest classicism (I don't mean quality, I mean the style/era) and Beethoven stands with one foot in romanticism already. But I admire about your mentality that you're using your ears and heart instead of books 👍 I've known people who are professional music players by education and they use only theory but don't feel it. If that's how you feel about these symphonies, I'm loving it 🤗

@@elaineblackhurst1509 Can't agree more. Afterall , the young Beethoven studied with Haydn but disagreement broke up several times between the two !
@canman50602 жыл бұрын
@@elaineblackhurst1509 What I am trying to say is to look at it in a more broader sense in bridging from more traditional of classical form to some early revolutionary attempts by Beethoven leading to the romantic age rather than looking at individual style which is of course very unique on their own.
