I have made that trip a many time... My hometown in the Golden triangle then livening in Houston .... I can understand this and it brings tears to my eyes every time. Trying to get back to my love in Houston for the holidays in the cold and ice in my Jeep.

Me too, I miss the south, I kind of miss the Midwest but not the cold winters, the west coast is a mess and probably always will be. Houston TX will always be my home ❤️

He goes straight to my heart lyrically, like Townes (and I don't take that name in vain), Musically he reminds me more of Guy and/or Verlon, especially his little flamenco/mariachi flourishes. His voice is totally unique, to me it's as ethereal as Jimmy Dale in a whole different way, SE Texas with a little Arkansas drawl he went to school at Hendrix. He truly represents the next generation . 1100 Springs are great and have their place, but I'll take Hayes and the old guys given a choice.

@PeacePrincess13 darlin' I would never make a negative comment about Hayes, I said that his Lyrics reminded me of Townes and his musicianship reminded me of either Guy or Verlon, Hell That's as high as I am capable of praising anyone, look at the company I put him in with dead seriousness. Matter of fact I compared his voice to a cross between Rodney Crowell and Jimmy Dale Gilmore. I couldn't love him more, but my favorite Hayes song at the moment is bad liver and a broken heart.

I'm from Athens, GA. I love Texas music, but the south east has some great players as well. Old crow medicine show just to name one. I understand your from Texas and take everything as a personal attack, but there's a lot of good stuff outside of Texas you should try leaving sometime. Don't mess with Texas!! Just bustin' your balls man.

Easily the best country singer. In my opinion anyways. One thing I'll never understood is how is listed as alt-country(occasionally) while sugarland is listed as country. wat. But I don't want to go on that rant right now. :P

I can hear Townes in his words but not his voice, his voice is HIS, like Rodney or Jimmie Dale's
