As an owner of a 27 rk model, I can appreciate how much space they had to work with for storage and a bit of a different layout, they did really well here.. Love the metal sink, the flip up counter extension, and all the storage. Could use some shelving in the upper cupboard in the kitchen, but not a deal breaker. Great touch that all the windows open. 50 amp is nice, but the 30 amp and the ac is suffient for just about anything short of Texas and Florida heat. Fans do help! And, hey, keeps the cost down, too. 30 lb tanks on the nose are easy upgrades, but will add weight to an already heavy nose. Your bang on, nerd, about a suitable equipped half tonne being "ok" for flatland towing. A 3/4 tonne gasser would be pretty much perfect for serious cross country adventure, and your right about the wide, and set back axels. She will turn really nice. That outdoor storage, and kitchen, really well done. Overall just a really sharp package, well done coachman!

My 1/2 ton Duramax powered Silverado claims the SAE towing is 9300# on this RST That translates to few passengers and even less cargo (in the truck) to keep it under the 15,000# Combined. I’m still shopping, so this Coachman is a good candidate. In a motortrend article, GM’s little diesel does well in this RV size range everywhere except getting back up to speed on a hill after a hiccup, where it struggles, but gets there. The SAE standard tests all that, so I guess we’ll see.

I have this in the 2024 model. I like the move of the kitchen sink to the center of the counter. I love all the storage! In the back we keep our griddle and accessories. In the large mid-side storage we keep our lawn chairs (4) and a small side table with room to spare.

Nice layout, my two improvements 1. Lazy susan gadget - replaced with trash can hole. I'd rather have the trash accessible from outside with a nice easy opening to toss into it and turn the trash can space into cabinet space. I'm also concerned while cool, it will break and then it will be a useless accessory. 2. Make the swing up extension flush with the counter.

A theater seat is the way to go and I still think the TV is to high. There is no reason that the TV couldn't be lower. I like the drawers under the dinette seats. Excellent change with the lazy susan! Great job with the bed storage but does it have inverter plugs next to the bed? Love the fact that they give us outside access behind the TV and under the kitchen counter.

First, congrats on Nerdism #37 going mainstream! Second, Cousin Garrett gets bonus points of the Monty Python style apologies for missing footage. Now, on to something completely different.. This floor plan is an absolute win! It's hard to articulate what the best parts are, it's the whole everything about it that makes it great. It would be very convenient to pull something out of the oven, turn around and put it on on the counter, and when it's cool enough the carnage may commence from the theater seat. The only thing that would make it better, Coachmen, would be a sidesplash for the fridge! We'd still prefer a theater seat with positional armrest, but if they don't want to give us what we want, well we'll just have to wait for another builder to give it to us. We have the ‘22 model and I love it! I love the change of the drawers under the dinette but not the sink move, the untensil drawer is so much nicer with the angled sink even though it’s a PITB when you’re doing dishes. The glass rinser is awesome! Not feeling the lazy Susan feature, they should put another pop up power tower there instead or trash access to the compartment. Or both! Put the cabinet with shelf back under the kitchen sink. I would love having a sleeper sofa,too. We have heated, “massage” theater seats so no snuggles ☹️ The addition of the drawers and pockets in the bedroom are a great idea! It’s too bad they took the little shelf/hooks out of the bathroom and the great storage under the sink. They should add a shelf in the other cabinet in the bathroom. I’m also very happy to hear that they have done something about the outside kitchen, we’ve had several problems with water leaking from the flexible hoses and attachments as well as the faucet itself. Even had to cut a few trips short bc of it. So hopefully that problem is solved.

Thank goodness it's not white and black!!! I'd like to see a dream dinette a lil more space between the stove and refrigerator, a pass through bathroom, especially for ease of getting out of bed and accessing it. I do love the layout. But....the thing I LOVE the most about this rv and is one of my nerdism or pet peeves and this rv answers it is the matching paint and decals thru the slide out. I'm telling you, this is what seperates this from other rvs. Tip of the cap to Freedom Express for this!!! Gamechanger and the rest of the industry will eventually follow this trend!

And you are 100% at a rest stop! U-tensil nerdism is amazing!!! Most folks don’t realize how important proper plumbing is. So many manufacturers crimp a pex fitting to a flexible hose. I like this one, even though my research/shopping process has all brut eliminated travel trailers. Changes: I would swap the location of the theater seat and TV. Then, get rid of the dinette and replace it with a 36” standing desk or breakfast counter bar (for my taste, a raw wood edge would be stunning. The TV moves to the door (its new location) would become a fireplace/televator. That way, the theater seats can have the option of campground views or TV.

Something to keep in mind: Each series of Coachmen RV is managed by totally different people with completely different staff and facilities. So despite things like Catalina, Freedom Express, Apex, Northern Spirit, etc all being "Coachmen RVs" they are best considered individually

Hey Josh, really like this one. For one I look for uniqueness in their design. I like the way the kitchen is in a U shape as well as the U B Josh Nerds kitchen utensil drawer. I also really like the height of the camper. I’m only 5‘9“ but it still makes a difference. A little lazy or hazy Susan that pops up is really freaking cool. I wish they would do that more often. The window coverage is absolutely fantastic. When you’re camping, you actually wanna see the outside 😂. I do think they could’ve squared the theater chairs up with the TV a little bit better. But I really do like the fact that the chairs are back against the campside. And holy crap there’s tons of storage room in here. Way more than I could ever stuff full of crap.!! And it’s about dang time these folks started angling the toilet so that you could wipe left or right. But they did an excellent job with the cabinets in the bathroom, especially with the laundry shoot. I do totally and absolutely agree that they need to put backsplash’s all along the kitchen, especially up near the walls where the refrigerator is. I think it’s absolutely ridiculous. That some of them give you a beautiful backsplash that doesn’t really cover anything! They need to start putting it all along the kitchen to protect everything that you do in the kitchen such as lol cooking! Anyway, other than that, I think it’s a excellent RV. Good job, Josh. Overall pretty nice! I would turn storage right of TV into hanging storage...not much otherwise. Dont need a cup sprayer or lazy Susan. Would prefer drawers in kitchen where garbage is and I would put garbage can at end of counter. Put a separation divider for small amount of storage in bathroom..to keep separate from bedroom closet. Almost Perfect! It's on my list!!!😊

Yes! An outside sink!!!!! I think the sink is more important than the grill. This kitchen can work, I'd like an extra hook on counter for the rail when your not using the griddle. I'd love to be able to stick a bigger refrigerator in the kitchen, but the slide arm is in the way, I'll take the compromise. Great outside storage. I liked the colors. Good idea on opening the TV in the opposite direction. Can they move the fuse box cover to open on the side of the counter facing the door instead of facing the kitchen, it would be easier to access when the slide is closed. Gravity defying doors in the bedroom? Nice touch. I like the north/south bed; road mode is good enough to sleep overnight. Loading groceries during shopping stops and getting started will be a pain. Overall this camper is one of the reasons I really like Freedom Express.

Really like so much about this one! Sidesplash next to stove...YES! Get rid of the drawers under the hanging wardrobes and give me decent nightstands! Those power pockets are too small for my CPAP. We like our 2022 252rbs but the extra space in this unit would be nice. I did not enjoy spending over 12 hours replacing all the bad plumbing but it's fixed now. They've made many small improvements over ours. Thanks for the review Josh!

Nice attention to details in this TT! Love the window coverage, the dinette drawers, the kitchen Lazy Susan, the side pockets in the bedroom closet area on both sides, and that they're going to change the direction of the TV swing out. Small details really add up! The lift up bed and storage are amazing! Wondering if a conventional door would work for the bedroom possibly allowing better placement for the 2nd TV at the foot of the bed. Nice to have the idiot box on nights it's hard to sleep.

Beautiful floor plan! Coachmen has really stepped it up lately. I don't think the refrigerator being blocked by the slide is that big of an issue. If someone needs food or a drink that bad, then invest in a small Yeti cooler, and put it in your tow vehicle.

Here's my 2 cents worth, I absolutely love this layout! The dinette table looks like it's a knee knocker and toe kicker so that can be improved on. I agree with a love couch rather than the two seats and it would be incredible if you could have a table that slides out from the kitchen cabinets! Alls that would take is a table/shelf under the shelf of the cabinet. Good job Josh, I'm sure you had a lot to do with this design. I'm glad they're listening!

@@JoshtheRVNerd I have a large dinette table like that and it has a hinge on the wall and one leg that folds down center front. I never hit my knee or stub my toes. Also, I wanted to add more detail about the table I suggested for the love couch. It could pull out from the cabinet like a cutting board pulls out. It would be a great spot for your laptop or a meal. It only has to pull out about two feet or however deep the cabinet is.

It seems as if the booth has better cushioning on it, so if you had extra people camping or something, it looks comfy, which they normally don’t. The cook top is too close to the side, but I actually really like the amount of prep space this has. I’m glad the electric and the water is separate haha, it eases some of the anxiety! I’d prefer a hide-a-bed, but that’s a personal choice, I’m just not a fan of the recliners, they seem to hit my legs in the wrong place, so they’re not comfy. Side splash guards next to the stove would be helpful! The bathroom is nice. I’m not a fan of the shared bedroom/bathroom space, I prefer a distinction between both. I like the set up at the bedsides. I also like the under bed storage, if my dogs weren’t spoilt they’d be able to sleep under there, well, one 1️⃣ t 2️⃣ of them lol. I’m sorry Josh is there a privacy blind on the door, I must’ve missed that, doh! I like this, but don’t love it. I think we need a compilation of bloopers Josh 😂

Really nice looking camper, Josh….congrats. Yeah, the fancy multi-use sinks and that cup sprayer thing? I could w/o any of it. I don’t like the way that cup sprayer thing impedes on the countertop on some models and now here we are, it’s interfering with an actual handy item…the roll-top dish drainer. I like that more models are moving away from full bedside stands, opening the space to make you feel less confined if not on both, at least one side. I’d appreciate if in future models they consider this change. Overall, this model checks A LOT of my boxes. I have a 2023 F150 w/1900 payload, 10,100 tow capacity. I only locally camp, in CT…short hauls, usually less than an hour drive. This is one I’d love to own. The exterior looks sharp!

I would flip the TV is and theater seating/couch. I would have the fireplace lower and the TV on a televator system so you can see out the window and the people sitting at dinette can see TV (if they want to). Also the counter/televator/fireplace footprint doesn't have to be very wide to keep floor plan "open"

This type of TT RV will be my 2nd "third" RV. I'll stick with what my current vehicle can pull - 6k lbs - and keep it at 25' length max. While very nice, this does not strike me as the ideal new-to-RV-camper types.

Our first camper was a 2017 Freedom Express. Didn't have a slide so it was a bit tight in places. Love the look of everything in this one, especially since they decided to let the TV swing towards the dinette. My suggestion for better: a lazy Susan that could come down in that top corner cabinet, once they find a way to keep the 2 from colliding. (Or maybe they meet in the center🤔)

Don't need a special glass washer thing. I would opt for 50 amp service with the second AC. I'll take a table and chairs, I'm good with the population control theater seats. I'm good with the road mode as bathroom access in road mode is all I look for. Really like the big storage spaces outside. If the window in the hall was gone, a hinged door could be installed for the bedroom and the TV mount could be on the correct wall. Or they could put in a TRUE pocket door. That is a minor thing for most, it's actually a deal breaker for me and my wife.

I love the new look but white awnings get SO dirty. Well, they all do but when we got our Flagstaff with the dark awning it was a game changer. When you go camping, stuff gets dirty!

We own a 2024 274RKS and there is some good stuff here, and some misses. The biggest improvement I see is moving the kitchen sink in front of the window. Heck even your floor plan still shows it in the old location. That angled sink isn't comfortable to use and sits too close to the power tower behind. I also like the new freezer bottom fridge. BTW - we are also hide-a-bed family because our fur baby insists on sitting on the sofa with us in the evening. Her favorite spot is on the back of the sofa looking out that big window. The new steel shelf outside by the griddle is also a huge improvement over the flimsy piece of cardboard on the earlier models; the old one had no support and could barely hold up a cup a coffee. Misses for us are the new linear lights - what is this, a disco? Although bonus for making them dim as all those puck lights are very bright. Also don't really like that new handrail on the step - it just looks like I would be constantly walking into it. The lazy susan is a really dumb idea. That corner (for us) is where all our appliances sit (the plug is directly above), so we would have to move them every time we wanted to raise it. Stupid way to lose a bunch of precious counter space. You also lose a big chunk of the outside storage (we use that cabinet for all our camp toys and kayak gear). The lighter colour on the entertainment centre is 'meh' - like it better matching the other cabinets. I don't think the swing in the big hidden door is such a great idea either as it will make it difficult to access all that space behind IMO. We can get a lot of stuff in there and you need easy access to somewhere to put it down. My biggest suggestions would be adding an electrical outlet on the face of the right dinette seat. Right now, if you want to plug something in at the dinette you have to run a cord around under the TV. The main power wire for the entertainment centre runs right through that cabinet behind the drawer, so an easy upgrade (next on my list). Another nice to have would be 12v power in the vent in the bedroom . Without the 2nd air there is only one operable window, so the bedroom gets VERY stuffy at night. I just paid way too much to have my dealer snake 12v power up there and install a Maxxair fan. Overall our impression after our first season is that we really got it right for our 3rd and hopefully last camper. The storage both inside and out is incredible! The cargo capacity is incredible. It does tow very nicely with my Titan half ton (although I might upgrade to a 3/4 just because it is getting pretty old now).

Hey Josh we have a 2021 245rl xplor. Unfortunately we live full time an last year I had to have one of my legs removed. So now I am a bit stuck. Do we have someone come in an redo the trailer . Which is funny because we had water leaking on the front side near the water heater and such, so the cabinets and floors need to be redone at any point . When we bought it we were lucky to put down some cash so we weren't too far gone. The water damage happened after the trailer was out of warranty. I have wrote grand design listing the issues we have had. Our fridge no longer gets below 40. So milk and meat, they have get put in the back where it almost freezes. Yeah we got frosting on the cake but there is no cake . Also alot of campers are no way feasible for someone like me. I can't get my wheel chair to the bedroom. So I sleep in the sofa ( which has more holes and rips than my doggie blankets. I am just so frustrated, I love living in an rv, but I don't know enough folks that can do the work and do it the right way. What is your suggestion for this ?

Man.. first of all I'm sorry to hear of... well.. _all_ of this. I don't envy your position I'm also not sure I have a great answer for you. I love RVing but one of the things I dislike about this business is how the designs are simply not kind to those who are not able of body and there's nearly no exception to that I'm afraid I'm not even sure what to suggest here. I'm at a bit of a loss myself.
