Thank you for this video! The woodruff key on my Hayterette sheared off after hitting a protruding subsurface brick; the disc plate became jammed on and impossible to remove using manual force alone. Thought I might have to improvise by drilling two holes in the plate and fitting two bolts, a bracket and employing a hub puller as another video uploader demonstrated, but decide to try your more straightforward, easier method instead. I used a 3" long (minimum) fully-threaded 3/8" UNF bolt, rather than part-threaded (as you appear to have done) because the hole in the shaft is quite deep and anything less would have been too short to fully release the plate.

That is a brilliant way of removing the disc . Why has no one done this before ? it is so easy . It’s a shame I have drilled holes in mine .

Easily obtained from your nearest DIY store, ironmonger or eBay, if you have not already done so. Must definitely be 3/8" dia. UNF (Unified Fine) thread in order to fit a Hayterette mower shaft
