So it seems whats happening is that instance is already determined, and when you quit and go back into it it's still the same instance. So essentially what you're doing is quitting, and then passing that instance for the lower stamina fee, then the next one will be rolled and it stays until you clear it. Nothing is actually being reset when you quit, you're just clearing away that instance for cheaper than you were going to spend so a new instance can be rolled.

Yeah that is what’s happening 100% and it’s why you never get them showing up on the 1x run as you have already established you are not getting them on the next run you pay for

i could have made this video shorter via editing but i thought it was important to not sell this as some kind of "wonder method" that people would think gave fast payoff. sometimes the time between them can be shorter but sometimes it can be longer so i left a clean run for you to see the exact time it took from me starting (which was right after i just had a cactur) to getting the next one so you have a somewhat realistic expectation if you are going to do this.

also i have tested to see if you can "reset the seed" as i called it via the zero stamina use exp stage and it doesn't seem to work, ill test for longer though as that could ultimately reduce stamina usage even more . but due to the switching menus etc it would be an even more time consuming way.

What if you focus on x1 battles until a cactar appears, then exit the battle and switch to x3 stages? Would the cactar remain if you quit the x1 stage for the x3 stage? Wouldn't you spend less stamina that way if you only quit when the cactar appears on the x1 battle to reset to x3 battle? Since you said that the stage doesn't reset when you quit the battle. So if that's true then the cactar should remain if you quit the x1 stage for the x3 or is that not how it works?

Thank you for confirming this for me! I had some bad luck and probably went through 20 stamina using this method and didn't get one. That's after I spent 250 stamina seeing if you could just quit and restart a match looking for one. Cheers!

Thank you for the insight! You also need to do all the calculations with the pass on, because every 3 20 stamina runs you will lose 1 full run from the pass by not doing it on x3 stamina. You could do 100 runs and compare results or something

See I did consider this myself however ultimately it doesn’t matter as when they finally show up and you finish the run with the pass you will be getting 4x rewards anyway so it’s just as worth it for those with the pass as without

If the game generates a seed that locks enemies into a battle until it gets beaten, then why cant you just run through x1 battles until you find a cactuar, THEN switch to x3 to take them out? Why is it necessary for you to keep jumping back and forth every time you dont get a cactuar on x3?

I wonder if you start up another instance of a run if it would reset the other? Like doing the nanocube and genome pod alternating, so if you don't see one on the nanocube, retire and then doing the genome pod. I guess I could test this after reset today where I have more stamina to work with. Cause I need both materials so would save even more stamina but you would be relying on rng of which you would get if it does work, so less targeted farming.

I just use a third of the energy that a mission costs to check for Cactuars before cashing a run in. Even better with the 4x.

Could you potentially save even more stam by just going in without the boost every time and finishing it and only leave and activate the boost when you encounter a cactuar? You may have addressed this and I missed it..

He didn't address it I think, but I would assume by doing this you would miss out on the cactuar(s)? I mean he goes through the level in order to "reset the seed", so in theory, the cactuars SHOULD still stay there since you didn't complete the level...but I feel like the game would get rid of the cactuars as it's a random chance encounter and essentially it would reset the seed that way I would think. I hope he sees your reply and actually tries testing it though lol.

No so I’ll try to explain this. If you get them on a 1x run you have done it wrong, but let’s say it happens, you can’t quit and then do it on 3x. I guess it’s some anti cheat thing but in that scenario the game clears them and they won’t be there on a restart

If the cactuar showing up is determined before the match actually starts, wouldn't it be more stamina efficient to just go into the battle without the stam boost, and if cactuar doesn't show up, we complete the battle normally, but if it does appear, THEN we quit, and go back in with the boost activated. Wouldn't the cactuar still appear? If that's the case, we would only waste 1 stam instead of 3 for every time we have to quit. Am I wrong here? Is there a chance for the cactuar to not show up after having done so after we quit?

It doesn’t work like that (I’ve tried it ) I guess to prevent exploits they have done something to make the spawn a one time thing that’s reset upon you quitting.

You explained this very well. I have about 50+ stam potions just sitting there so tomorrow I will be getting my weapons up to at least 80. Question if you know....do you know how many memories roughly is needed to max out a character's stream? I was farming cloud's memory quest a bit but I don't want to get more than I need since obviously that's a waste.

I don’t know the exact number no but it’s a lot I’ve used vouchers and everything on cloud and I’ve been able to do one node above 100

I'm at a point in the game where I have most things completed, and the amount of stamina regen i get per day just allows for a few runs. So unless i'm spending all of my stamina potions and lots of gems to get more stamina, I only get 2-3 3x runs a day which takes just a few minutes. So I think this will definitely be worth it to do in the long run for sure.

You don't need to do it. He did 8 runs for 1 mat. So by the time he got the cactuar he got 8+8=16 versus if he did every run at the max he would have 8x4=32and then the 8from cactuar so 40. Not every cactuar is 8 runs mind you but he lost out this time. Now if RNG blesses him with a cactuar every 2-4 runs this would be the best thing ever but the RNG is way to great. Mind you this is during boosted cactuars. If server wasn't boosted this strategy would be even more or a chore.

I'll be intrigued to know what the appearance rates are for 1x, 2x and 3x Cactuars are respectively. Could potentially argue repeating the process until only 3 cactuars turn up, but probably too time consuming and minimum of 1 is sufficient enough.

I mean 1 is going to double payout and that’s if it’s just a standard. Sure it’s the worst outcome but as long as you have reset less times than the cost of the stage you are still making a net positive gain so in my honest opinion just complete the run anytime they are there regardless of the number

I mean 1 is gonna be basically giving you 50stamina effectively. 2 would be entirely separate 60. 110, and a third would be 170 stamina. That’s assuming it averages out to 10 attempts.

Well it might not actually be that, there could be 2 possible reasons for it. 1. The chance may be tied to the stage type (so it needs to be another wep stage to reset it) 2. They have a really low chance to show up on the free stamina stage, so using that to try the reset may be having an effect

This method is bad. You waste way more value if you have the pass. You're not wasting 1 stamina. you're wasting way more. If you reset the seed 3 times with only a 1x run you lost out on a free run from 4x rewards for 3x stamina. You got 3x loot for 3x stamina and lost 3 stamina. You would've got 4x loot for 3x stamina. So if you make to many resets you're losing out of the free stamina from pass. If you dont have the pass it doesnt matter. But the pass makes your 3x runs 1.33x more effective. So doing 1x runs is losing value. The whole method depends on cacturuar appearance rate. You should test that and then you can math out if its worth it.

They shouldn’t appear on 1x See on a fresh start you would check the 3x run first and if they don’t show you would reset to do a 1x run and they won’t be there , then after you complete that run again you check 3x and if they are not there you reset. So the “loop” you are creating here means they will only actually be seen when you are doing the “check” on the 3x run and obv if they are there you complete it and then check again. Watch to the end to see it all

Why don’t you try it for yourself and report back. I tried the retiring thing others mentioned myself and wasted 30-40 stamina on retires multiple times with no cactuars ever showing up. Technically (while you obv don’t want luck this bad) if it happens under 60 resets considering the worst payout is 2x it’s yielding better payoff for stamina spend. I mean if you have luck that bad though I fear for your rolls
