HAZARD VS. RISK
A hazard is a source of danger. Think of it as anything that poses a threat to health, life, property, or the environment.
A risk is the chance that someone or something will be harmed by that hazard.
To stay safe, we just need to recognize hazards and take the steps necessary to reduce our risk.

It's really quit confusing because they're somewhat alike. I remember before when I was doing a risk assessment for the first time. I had to review over and over. This is a very detailed and clear illustration. Thank you so much. =)

Hi mam,How u could say that stairs are hazard, it's not an hazard, the behavior and situation leads to risk, which means, the the stairs without guard rail is hazard(unsafe condition), if the stair case floors are wet(unsafe condition) is hazard, when the person tries to jump from steps to steps on the staircase(unsafe act) is an hazard... Risk: chance or likelihood of slip, trip and Fall which caused by hazard and get harm..I hope from my opinion I tried to clear this, if any comments pls share.

Exactly Prasanth. This is completely missleading...!!! How can stairs be said as hazard. It is an object. Fall from stairs is in fact the hazard. Blunt trauma to leg &/ hand &/ head &/ back, sprain&/ strain, fracture to body part is the risk.

PRASHAANTH you got it wrong sorry- hazard -stairs (Correct) - The risk - fall . What you trying to say about unsafe behavior and unsafe conditions something different. So if the stairs is not wet and someone is not running- there is no hazard or risk?
