yeah wetsanding and buffing definitely made a night and day difference. Just a lot more labor but thats the trade off when you use cans lol

I think removing the trunk and laying it so that it sits like a tent or even flipping it around and painting one side at a time would have helped a lot with your issues.

I think so too! Lessons were definitely learned.

@@HazardGaragei would just use the first 10% of each can on the trunk but ur not painting much
@HazardGarage Жыл бұрын
@@luke-o2n yeah thats a good idea but I never thought I would have to 'plan' like that lol. Using full cans on the horizontal surfaces and then the 'used' cans on the vertical services probably could have solved for my issue.

Glad you were able to fix the spraying issue with wet sand & buff. How was the color match?
@HazardGarage2 жыл бұрын
I was able to fix the orange peel by wet sanding and buffing. Color match looks pretty good in my opinion. The instructions recommend laying light coats until you get your color match. Too many coats or thicker coats could make the color too dark.

how was the color match
@HazardGarage Жыл бұрын
paint match wasnt too bad. It was a little dark at certain angles in the sun. But that could have been user error as I might have put too many layers on it. To be honest though it probably would never be 100% without matching the surrounding panels (because older panels could have slightly fading due to 20 years of sun exposure) but I was happy with it for what it was.

what primer did you use?

I don't get it in the world of today if you spray paint something and mess it up you simply go wrap it right
@HazardGarage2 жыл бұрын
definitely an option. it looks wayyy better than it did when it was peeling so i take some consolation in that.

It wouldn’t have cost that much to get a professional to paint the trunk and side skirt

you fucked up at 1k clear....... 2k only. 1k is basically clear paint not clear coat
@HazardGarage Жыл бұрын
Yeah 2K is definitely worth it and miles better. I knew that going in, but never seen it for myself. Thats why I just did the side skirt in 1k.

cmon dude did you even try researching how to paint a car. never spray 1k clear. never spray 2k clear when its half full. dont let it even get low. move smoothly and dont put a heavy first coat you need to spray the 2k in two coats and then sand then spray the third coat.
@HazardGarage Жыл бұрын
of course I researched. But no video or forum post will ever be as good as doing it and learning it yourself. I knew 2K was going to be better but again, videos dont do justice to seeing it with your own eyes. I wanted to see the difference myself. always keep learning right? 😀
