Perhaps the legend of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah arose from an attempt to explain the remains of Bronze Age cities from the third millennium in this area. For some people, these cities exist only in the Bible, while others try to find them.

47:45...I think those life spans were literal life spans. There are problems with the timeline calculated by James Usher. It appears that there are transcription errors in the Masoretic text which results in about 650 years being removed from the timeline. If you look at other texts, like the Septuagint for example, you can see that some of the ages are significantly different. I say all this to say that we shouldn't be relying on hard timelines here since we have to sort of go out on a limb to get some of these ages.

In Genesis 19:4-11 NLT Many of the men of the City Sodom surrounded Lots (Abraham's cousin) house to take by Force (to have sexual relationships with these angels) the two angels that God had sent in to rescue Lot and his family. So, yes it was extremely evil and wicked.
