I'm going to point out that looking at the story board vs the finished work, when Charlie places her hand on Angels shoulder, the finished work makes him look more annoyed while the storyboard... Angel looks scared first.

Getting more real than is called for, but in many cases, reacting to physical touch after being abused looks more like how it does in the final video: widening eyes or freezing (more subtle, easily missed fear) and then getting angry at the person who touched you. I was impressed at how the animation turned out.

Plus, in this storyboard Val and Angel's "kiss" is more visible, in Addict the faces are not faced towards the cam. And, last thing, Val doesn't try to lick Angel (like he does in the actual scene). This is what I meant in my comment

It's so cool to see what changed from the original storyboard to the final Video. For example Angel's expression during his interaction with Valentino forcing himself onto Angel..... In the video he looks PISSED like he's going to kill Val for doing that to him...again....in the original storyboard he looks more worried or Scared and seems to be resisting out of fear. It's the same thing when Charlie tapped on his sholder....in the final work he looks more of a mix of scared and just....PISSED but in this he's more scared than seems annoyed. Poor baby🥺

I'm not gonna lie I thought the original HH was mind blowing but that the latest music video had such awesome shot composition and shear shot-planning that I wasn't in the least bit surprised to find out their team had expanded. That said, having just discovered this was essentially all planned out BY A SINGLE PERSON such as yourself 😱 WOWWW!!!!!! Holy crap! No Way?! But yeah, no kidding. This is absolutely amazing work and you should frankly be extraordinarily proud for bringing a new layer of professionalism and polish to a franchise that while approaching perfection, was totally lacking at moments far as complex and compelling shots go. So it's amazing you brought it. Awesome job. Also, not to drag on this praise too long, but my favorite shots have gotta be: a) the zoom-out from from the stretch limo with the immediate cut to Angel whipping the glass at the wall and crying. b) the earlier shot of Angel on the pole when he faces away from the crowd and briefly recalls how he ended up dead, just a glimmer of sadness, before immediately switching to the confident performer persona with Valentino's vapor hands. Like, holy crap such a simple moment but so freaking layered in not just what it implies but in the 4 shots that flow so smoothly the transition is unbelievably smooth. c) That END scene, omigosh. All of it. Just all of it. The staging, the emotions, the way he picks up Nuggets and coddles him like he's the love of the world and waltzes to the mirror --- only to haplessly flashback to his r*pe by Valentino --- snapping out of it in a wide eyed nervous sweat. Like, holy shit just the way you drew the emotions on the character's faces and body language was so freaking compelling it's why I think I prefer the video over the original HH episode honestly. They talk about 'show don't tell,' but this video alone basically took that rule to a whole new level. You completely get the entirety of the complexity of Angel's story, the regret of his death, the desperate need to project hyper confidence, his utter hatred of the way pervs take advantage of him and punish not just his body but his soul, and the underlying depressed sadness of it all --- and when you think about it very little of that is told in the lyrics, at all. There are references and sentence fragments, but the majority of his life is characterized by the way you guys chose to set up visually telling of that information and ultimately the way you guys executed it.

I love how the pre-animation work can really show us very clearly what the characters are feeling. Partially because the frames go by much slower and that makes it a lot easier for our eyes to register exactly what the expressions and environment mean to the characters and story as a whole. I think angel felt a lot more like someone at the end of their rope in this storyboard rather than coming across as someone who’s simply aggressive because of trauma. You can see the process of venerability followed by an aggressive response and that gets across the message that the rudeness isn’t just being excused by the trauma he’s suffering through but is actively being caused by the pain that the trauma brings on. Trying not to have my comment removed by youtube sorry if I sound repetitive.Those facts alone make the character feel more relatable here. And I’m not hating on the full animation either it’s a music video so a lot of action has to be crammed down into fast moving scenes so a lot of the message is bound to be missed in the first few viewings. It’s simply a consequence of the animated music video being an animated music video, but it also makes the video interesting and somewhat new every time you go back to rewatch it. I’m gonna sleep now, I need it, love this and love the music video.

Idk if anyone else has said this but at the scene at 0:53 I feel like it looks more immersive, I feel like you can really really tell how bad Val's smoke is compared to the final product but I do love both! Also I love that at 1:00 when he falls to the floor his face makes it evident that he is now under Val's control, neat detail, unfortunately I feel like that got lost in the final product as his face looks more neutral there, but they both have their charm! 👏🍒

I think the one thing I wish they kept the same as the storyboards was how you see Val kiss Angel and he looks uncomfortable, rather than their faces smashing together.
