I find this AMV revealing of what most fans don't seem to see with Alastor. They find him as a fun and interesting character, and I'll be 100 I agree with them. But he also sends off every alarm bell and red flag in my mind in this story. He is the smiling antagonist, I am sure of it. In the pilot, he literally managed to get the entirety of the Hotel under his thumb with little to no effort. A failing hotel and the daughter of satan is indebted to him, and the hotel now has actual staff that will no doubt be leaned upon. Alastor can now snap his fingers and the entire operation colapses under its own weight, and he is there to enjoy the way the building falls.

My theory is that he is just using Charlie to get to Lucifer as a means to take over Hell. It's perfect leverage, why else target the spawn, and for free at that. That's just my opinion!

His personality was far too flamboyant to be kept, the way I see it. He was unhinged and stole the show every single second, which is good when he is meant to have a starring role (like in the Pilot) but makes it extremely difficult to insert him in a context of multiple characters where he's not constantly the main lead. Also, this video was published way before Hazbin Hotel aired, so the Pilot was the only thing available.

There's a single "inconsistency" with Alastor's design that I only just noticed here. Sometimes Alastor's fingertips are totally red from final joint to nail tip, and sometimes just his fingernails are red. (And I put quotes on "inconsistency" because I don't want to watch this specific video too closely too many times in a row to clarify whether that's a true inconsistency or just one hand's one way and one hand's the other way. The special effects on this video make it hard to be sure what I'm looking at for figuring that out for sure.)
