I think I’m starting to realize why they changed the voices. All of these actors both know how to sing and sound relatively similar to the original. The old voices felt better when talking but a majority of them couldn’t sing. And having separate actors for the singing can sound weird. These new voices provide a little of both.

To be fair, I do think that Stephanie has a very distinctive singing voice. Her speaking voice gets deeper, and I was a bit impressed when listening to her sing because she did have a slightly darker tone this time around, it was less recognizable. But when she was in bojack horseman as gina, another adult comedy, she also got a song, and she did sound pretty much just like mirabel in it. Some people thought it wasn't even her singing because of how different she sounds when she starts singing I mean, there's also the fact that she used a higher pitched voice in Encanto, so idk

You know whats interesting? The musical choices for both heaven and hell. Theyre swapped. The songs in Hell are very classical sounding. They have a very retro feel to it. And then we got Adam with his rock and roll song Hell is Forever. Rock is usually associated with Hell while classical is associated with the divine. But Hazbin they swapped them.
