Alastor inadvertently calls himself a failure "inside of every demon is a lost cause" Ironically, If his name were Hazbin, it'd be a paradox, a failure who thrives on others failing. Maybe Alastor only changed the hotel name because he thought it sounded catchier than Happy Hotel. He saw everyone else as failures and since both Hazbin and Hotel start with H, it could be a reason. Change the name to "Hazbin" and the demons would be more likely to fail, at least in the eyes of Hell society. Interesting theory, but for me, I imagine his last name might be Duvalier, the last name of the president of Haiti (at one point, Francois Duvalier wanted to further his rule by using Haitian mythology. He took credit for Kennedy's death and extensively studied voodoo.). Interestingly enough, Dr. Facilier, the voodoo Disney villain was supposed to be named Dr. Duvalier. Could Alastor's shadow army of spirits and imps be a reflection of the Macoutes, Francois' army who came from poor villages and stole, raped and murdered at will? Honestly, I feel like that fits. And it very much could be Hazbin. He was the one to change the hotel from Happy to Hazbin. Now it could’ve been to give it a better name that would fit it. But what if it wasn’t. What if he changed it to Hazbin to either mark it as his own for a bigger plan he’d planning or pure coincidence that he just happens to have the same last name as the hotel. If thats the case, that Hazbin is his last name, why would he change it to his surname? I agree with you when you say it could be for future conflict. I feel like it could be foreshadowing. Or it could be a red herring.

A possibility is that due to his showman personality, and his tendency to crack jokes and puns, it might be just a sort of clever wordplay. I also find it possible that he never said "Hazbin", but did say "has-been", going for a sort of descriptor a radio host might go for especially considering his vocabulary is from 1930s (I think).

There would be a lot to play off of if Alastor's last name was Hazbin. In the pilot, Alastor is the only one who calls the Happy Hotel, the Hazbin Hotel. At the end of his song, he almost says it before the door gets blown up behind him. And after the blimp is destroyed, and his jambalaya speech is given, (I'm assuming this is Alastor's doing) he zaps the Happy Hotel sign and changes it to Hazbin Hotel.

I personally think that if it does seem that Alastor has taken over the hotel, Charlie will finally realize, and she's the daughter of Licifer, so she will hand Al's booty to himself. We already saw how seamlessly Charlie changed the news studio into a hospital, candyland, ect. But when Al summoned Husk, the lines that divided the Casino style and hotel were jagged.
