That bottle of Old Peculier took me back to the mid-70's. A day out with my dear old Mum, took her to the Hill Inn at Chapel-le-Dale in Yorkshire for lunch. She liked a stout so she had half a pint of draught Old P with her meal, said "Oooh that was nice" and had another half for the road. Then sang herself to sleep in the back of the car and slept like a log until we got home.

I once got caught out in - 17 with - 7 gear in my hammock. Luckily I had my 4 litre collapsible Nalgene with me. I heated a pot of water, added to some cold water in the Nalgene and put it in the sleeping bag. It kept me toasty warm all night and I had liquid water in the morning for some coffee. Having a light weight hot water container, just in case you need a heat source, is a must for me now. Food for thought, and you don't create waste with those hands warmers.

Thanks for showing off a proper campfire; Checking the ground, keeping it small and controlled, and tidying up safely. It's such a shame people who start careless fires or use disposable barbecues give people like you a bad name :( It's natural to want to do stuff like this so I think if instead of banning things we made sure people were educated on the importance of being careful with fire it would go better.

Just having this conversation with my old man today. We camp on Dartmoor and have been for 25 years.. Now i camp with my own kids but we have been noticing so many fire patches dumped rubbish and even camping gear just wrecked and left behind and it makes me so angry! People have ruined enough of the country so it sickens me that now they are ruining our last places of nature and beauty! Even my 5 and 7 year old know we leave no footprint. Love what your doing man

Nicely done brother. Anything you have to cook will always taste better done over a fire, than anything else. And you had no lack of firewood. For me, camping of any kind requires a fire. No fire - not going. I know there's lots of places where you don't want one because of the attention it might attract. But a nice fire on a cold night, a decent single malt. You don't really need much else then, do you. When all this stay at home stuff is done ( we recently just got locked down even tighter ), and if you can come to Canada, we'll show you some seriously wild camping. For now though, we will just have to keep tagging along with you. Thanks.

Probably the most aesthetically pleasing video you've made. The shots of you from a distance relaxing by the fire after eating your scran were very enjoyable. The stars shown through the canopy especially lovely. Can't beat a pine wood 🌲 As for you being cold, I'd suggest ditching the tent and using a tarp. I've never not been cold in a tent, they're basically a fridge. Plus they spoil the view! On guaranteed dry nights I sleep with no shelter otherwise I use a tarp.
