I grew up in the same generation as you, and really enjoyed the music! Y'all can just turn it down if you don't like it. I thought that it was pretty cool. And don't listen to all the haters. You have some skills, and you like to make things. All they do is complain and troll. Keep up the good work, and publish part 2 one of these days!

That's Large foot print, frame looks almost set up for CNC. I don't have that kind of room. Ill probably us the CNC bearing and rod stuff and make a removable rifle stock frame (Part), that slides up/down to shorten my unit As I will be using mostly for smaller and stockier parts. Yours does look stable and stiff.

Ive made lots of fancy stocks by hand . It started , because Im left handed . I found the comb height and cheek peice always wrong for the big scopes I use . I bought one of those tracers , but havent tried it yet , I was thinking of gluing hard foam add-ons to get the feel in the right places . I also wonder about wrapping the whole original in thick tape , to get it oversized , so I can finish it to a happy size . I dont here of anyone doing that ? I guess you could add -on and make a manlutcher long stock too .

Why make an exact copy of a factory wood stock? I get using it as a pantograph template if you used bondo or something to build up the comb or if you adjusted the length of pull, grip angle, etc. Why make it an exact copy?

Lee Hilton Does each and every stock have to be copied in this manner ? Seems slow and labor intensive. Couldn't a CNC machine that has the proper coordinates pump them out faster ?
@leehilton9932
@leehilton9932 6 жыл бұрын
@@ellobo1326 Boyd's actually has 5 cnc mills that cut the top and bottom of the stock then 5 other mills that cut the sides for the thumb holes or evaluations. Then to a 12+ turning robot that gives the stock its final shape. The way he is doin it in the video was the old way Boyd's usta use, but theirs still did about 10 at a time with master copy in the middle.

I don't know why people think music is a good choice to put on their videos? I mean you have an interesting vid and make it absolutely worthless by adding some music to it ? Wtf? How about a voice-over? Maybe you could describe what's going on in the vid . Or dub two or more crackheads fighting over a piece of pizza they found in the garbage . At least that would be somewhat entertaining.

John Pike the savage stock he is copying was made by Boyd's gunstocks. I worked there. They make custom gun stocks. Full float barrel channel, custom colors to choose from...... Look them up or just google pictures of their stocks. I have 2 myself. 1 of which no one has or will have. The color was never offered to the public, they did the color for one customer doin a bulk order in a regular traditional stock. Mine has the thumb hole with a Mossberg 100ATR chambered in 270. The other is just zombie hunter with a Marlin 880SS, just a 22. Its the wifes gun now. I'll post a little video on my page here soon on them. Just in changing the stock to a thumb hole stock on the 22 helped the wife with shooting. It made her feel more comfortable shooting since she doesn't have a lot of experience doin it

Lee Hilton still doesn't explain why he switched from the savage stock to a different one to cut the magazine well and barrel relief....also unless they have a contract with savage I highly doubt that's a Boyds stock, it wouldn't have the factory savage sticker on the foregrip

Kaden Cox unless it was a savage gun in the same action (long or short action) it wouldn't work. The inside profile that is cut out and mounting points are different on different guns. Basically you can't take a Remington and put in my Mossberg stock.
@leehilton9932
@leehilton9932 6 жыл бұрын
John Pike they do have a contract. I'll put a 100 dollar bill on the fact there's a Boyd's stamp, a date stamp, at least 3 different peoples initials in the barrel channel, and stickers with the program number for the cnc machine and tracking number on them. I've seen those stocks come back to Boyd's with the savage sticker on them cause they rejected it
