Short version: he needed to hit the villager with a Trident before thunder disappears, he does so with seconds to spare before thunder ended. Longer version with context, He is running all advancements, which is heavily predicated on one achievement where you hit a villager with a channeling Trident during a thunderstorm. The problem with this achievement, is because the run is so optimized now, thunder doesn't happen quickly enough. On average a thunderstorm won't happen until on average 3 hours of playtime. The record is currently like 2:33. Getting that one achievement could mean that a world record run doesn't die due to not getting a thunderstorm early. This is my understanding as a casual viewer. Take it with a grain of salt.
